Nathan could hear it. The little 'clicks' of metal through the walls. He was boxed into the room and backed into a corner. The sound became louder and moved faster. Nathan darted towards the door, hoping to outrun the creature. He turned around in time for the monster to show itself. It stood on it's hind legs and hissed at him. He raised his plasma cutter as it jumped at him and took the shot.

------------

Jakobs woke up, groaning. He looked around and noticed he wasn't in his room at all. He was strapped to a chair and a tube was placed directly over his chest.

"What the?" Looking around, he saw he was in a clean room with metal walls and floor with only one window. Looking towards his right, he saw another man in the same situation, except he was still unconscious. "Hey! Where are we?!"
Jakobs cried out as he struggled to move his arms and legs. The man across beside him started to spasm before something burst through his chest.

"ARR!" The creature growled as it slithered out of the man and into the tube. Jakobs watched in horror as it slithered out. Realizing his situation, he started to struggle against hid restraints.

"HELP! ANYONE PLEASE!!" Jakobs cried out before he started to choke and spasm before something burst through his chest. It roared as it slithered into the tube.

Behind the window, three scientists stood and observed the birth of the creatures. The older one looked on in amusement before turning to the other two.

"Commence specimen retrieval." He told them. The two scientists nodded before grabbing a tray and going through the door that led into the room.

"How are they Dr. Groves?" Turning towards the voice, the scientist saw a man about his age walking into the room. Unlike Groves, he didn't wear a standard scientist uniform, but mere civilian clothes.

"Excellent Mr. Weyland." Groves told him as the two scientists started to retrieve the first specimen. "They appear perfectly healthy."

"Good. Who did you choose for the hosts?" He asked.

"Two engineers." Groves answered, turning away from the scientists. "Both of the hosts were just engineers of the civilian colony. No one should know their gone."

"Specimen 5 has been retrieved." The scientist spoke through the radio. They placed the tube on the cart and turned to the next one. "Uh...where's Specimen 6?"

Jakob's corpse started to shake, his throat bulging before his mouth opened. "RAWR!!" The creature hissed as it popped out of Jakob's mouth. One scientist ran towards the door and tried to pry it open, while the other ran towards the window.

"HELP US!" He cried, gaining Weyland and Groves attention. Groves saw the escaped specimen and quickly reacted as he brought his fist down onto a red button.

"AAAHHH!/RAWR!!" The scientists and creature screamed as white gas flooded the room. It was enough to freeze and kill a human.

"No Dr. Groves." Weyland said, grabbing Groves hand and pulling it of the button. "I want it alive." He turned his attention to the creature as it shivered. "Sign it up for the program."

"Yes Mr Weyland." Groves said before turning to look at the creature.

---------(Two week later)--------

"Come on Jakobs, pick up." Nathan said to himself as he stared at his phone. It was his break time from working all over 'Freya's Prospect'. Jakobs was his best friend, they both graduated together and even signed up to work for the colony hear on BG-387.

"Hi, this is Jakob. I unfortunately can't pick up the phone because my I'm spending time with my family. Leave a message at the beep." Beep.

"Hi Jakobs. It's Nathan again. Listen, I'm worried about you. You've been gone for two weeks and I've been worried sick. Your wife keeps calling and asks where you are. If your in any trouble let me know."

He hanged up. Unlike Nathan, Jakobs married his highschool sweetheart and just recently became a father. Nathan stayed single because....well he just didn't see the point in dating. He's always been one to prefer solitude over someone else's company.

"Any luck?" Looking up, Nathan saw a woman wearing a scientist uniform. She had pale skin and long black hair. Her face was perfect as if it was carved by God himself. In her hands was a tray with two burgers.

"Nothing yet Katya." He rubbed his head as she sat down across from him. Katya was one of Nathan's only friends since he came to work on the colony. Nathan was burnt by a blowtorch once which led to Katya treating his wounds. She served as a doctor and since Nathan has a tendency to get hurt, the two became fast friends. "What you'd get?"

"A cheeseburger for you and a bacon sandwich for me." She said, picking up his burger and handing it to him. Nathan took it but watched her as she unfolded the wrapper around hers. It was like she was examining every detail.

"That's very unfortunate." Katya said as she took a bite. "I hope he can be found.  A lot of people have been disappearing lately."

"They have?" Now that he thought about it, a lot of engineers have been going missing lately. It couldn't be from the native species, they were mostly peaceful. "I haven't noticed."

"Oh, I have these flyers you requested." Katya reached into her satchel and pulled out a huge pill of 'Missing person' posters.

"Thanks Katya." He told her as he took the posters. They were posters of Jakobs with information like height, weight, etc, etc. He stood up with the posters in hand and turned to leave, but was stopped by Katya.

"Aren't you going to eat?"

"I'm sorry Katya. My shift is about to start and I need to hang these up." He felt terrible. He told her he would eat with her today.

"It's alright." He smiled before walking away. "And Nathan." He turned around. "Your a good friend."
