Finally

Chapter 3: It's my Fault.

"Hey Choice? Will you come pick me up?"
"Sure were are you?"
"I'm at an old mans house right beside Collen's. I'll explain later."
"Okay I'm on my way."
Choice, my best friend of six year, is the only person that knows about Collen. I didn't want my parents to find out that Collen was abusive.
I told Edgar that I was calling my sister because Choice is like a sister to me. At least she is the closest one I've had since my actual sister passed away from cancer when I was 4.

I get in Choice's car and tell her everything that just happend.
"...and then Edgar invited me into his home until you showed up."
Choice just sat there shaking her head driving. She didn't say a word.
"Are you going to say something?" I say breaking the silence.
She looks at me. I could tell she was hurt. Tears had formed in the sockets of her eyes. She took a deep breath and wiped her tears away.
"Paige, I hate seeing you hurt. You are everything to me! I wish I could've stoped this when you told me about it the first time. I can't help but blame myself." Tears are just pooring down her cheeks now.
"Pull over," I said.
Choice pulled over to the side of the road and turned off the engine.
"Choice, this isn't your fault. It's my fault. I saw it getting worse and worse. I should've left earlier. I was scared-"
"It's just, when you got in the car I could see on your cheek where he hit you! The first thing that popped in my head was that I should've done something. I-"
"Choice, I'm okay! Don't blame yourself. This isn't your fault."
She went silent the looked me and said, "I love you. You're my sister." Then her voice cracked.
"I love you too.. I'm okay alright. I promise."
We reach in between the console and hugged each other. I didn't want to let go. It was the first real hug I had in a while. I looked at her and put my sleeve over my hand and wiped her tears away.
"You alright?" I said to Choice.
"Yeah, are you?" I shook my head yes.
