Eva's POV:

I jogged up the few steps that led to my rusted front door. I had just arrived at my crappy house in a run down survey after my daily jog. I went to open the door when I saw a blue sheet of paper.

I ripped it off the door and peered at the words.

It read:

Eviction Notice

Miss Eva Parker,

We are aware of your lack in payments for your bills. Because of your disinterest in following requirements for living in our housing we are sorry to say that you have been evicted from this house.

You have 7 days to move out of this house. If there are any further concerns please call as soon as possible.

Yours Respectfully,

Gateway Housing.

I sucked in a large amount of air as I gripped onto the paper. I looked around the court seeing few children outside playing. Those who were playing looked content even in the state they were living in.

I unlocked the door, walking into the small beaten up house. It always looked like shit.

I crumpled up the piece of paper and sat down on the small blue sofa.

I glanced at the unopened mail that contained all of my bill payment information. I was usually on top of the bills but I haven't had any money whatsoever. I spent majority of my money on food for Charlotte and I, all I had left was about one dollar and fifty cents.

I leaned forward, resting my elbows on my thighs and putting my face in my hands.

"Fuck mom, why'd you have to leave us? Couldn't you have been more god damn responsible? I'm in a crisis, I need you." I spoke to no one in particular.

Being held responsible for my 17 year old sister, and a house that was way too overpriced for its condition at 19 years old, wasn't easy. I stressed every single day and I had no escape. I couldn't run because I knew my sister needed me.

Heaven forbid she had more money than me. The main reason being because she was in a gang, The West Void to be precise. Was I proud of her? Of course not, but there wasn't much I could do to stop her.

She was a teenager, you couldn't tell a teenager no and expect them to listen. I mean I was only two years older than her, she could and would do what she pleased and I couldn't do a thing about it.

The main worry with me about this whole gang situation was the fact that Jason McCann was the leader. He's Americas Most Wanted, not someone I would want my younger sister to be around. I guess he fled to Canada at some point and bumped into my sister along the way.

She smokes weed. I wasn't the influence of course, it was my idiot excuse for a mother. Guess where that landed my mom?

Prison. Along with murder, for a guy she thought she was in love with.

I talked openly about my mother because although she was an embarrassment if people asked I didn't lie.

Not that I had many friends of course.

I had to drop out of school because of my mothers mistakes. Usually a mother should encourage their child to go to school, but not mine. My sister followed in my footsteps, it's not like I could afford it anyways. She joined the gang one year ago. The day after our mother was arrested she announced that she was in the gang. I couldn't even remember how I reacted, it was that bad.

I honestly don't know where to go, or what to do. I am royally fucked.

I think I sat there for a good hour and a half just thinking about where I could go. It didn't help that I had like no friends meaning I couldn't even live somewhere temporarily.
