John- Wow~
Walking into the attic room, you admire the wood plank walling and the various bookshelves around. A lovely round table rests in the centre of the room, with a globe of the planet on it along with a small lantern.
Nix- Yep, it's nice, eh? Sorry for not dusting, I didn't actually expect to get someone for it.
John- No, it's fine really. I love it.
Approaching the circular window, you look out at the rolling ocean waves.
John- What a view. It reminds me of Argus, but even better.
Nix- High praise, buddy. Uh, right, let's talk rent. I'm only charging like one eighty a week. And maybe about like thirty for electricity a month.
John- Seriously? That's so cheap, man. Are you sure? What about the other bills?
Nix- Don't stress, bro. Look, if there's any damage or stuff, we'll pay together on that. And once you're working, you can start saving for your own place, too.
John- You are like, the coolest guy I've ever met, Nix.
He chuckles and rubs the back of his head.
Nix- Cheers, brother. I'll give you a hand with cleaning this shit up. Lemme grab the dustpan and broom.
John- Sounds good.
He disappears downstairs as your scroll buzzes. Opening it, you see Ren's face on the display.
Oh gods, this isn't going to be good.
Hesitantly, you answer the call. Ren's face appears.
John- What is it, Ren?
Ren- Jaune... we uh... things are different around here. I honestly shouldn't be calling you.
John- What do you mean?
You notice his nervous glance as he looks away.
Ren- Pyrrha really changed once you told her about your transcripts. She's violent, crude, unsympathetic. Nora and I are worried.
That doesn't seem right.
John- Pyrrha doesn't act like that. Not at all... are you... lying, Ren?
Ren- I-...
His hesitation is all you need to confirm your worry.
John- We're done. I'm blocking your number, Ren. Tell Pyrrha she can go to hell.
Pyrrha- Tell me yourself.
The scroll is pulled away from Ren as Pyrrha's upset face appears.
Pyrrha- You lied about your transcripts, Jaune. What did you expect me to do? It's safer for you to be with your family.
Shaking your head, you groan.
John- You don't get it, do you? I gave everything to be there. My family kicked me out once they heard what I did.
Her expression seems to soften.
Pyrrha- W-... I didn't know that-
John- You betrayed my trust, Pyrrha. You were my partner. How can people call you a friend when all you are is someone that aims to win? So yeah, I'll tell you. Go to hell.
Ending the call with an upset huff, you drop the scroll carelessly on the round table and put your face in your hands.
Nix- So that was the chick, huh? Sounded like my mom.
