Not much had happened in the last few months, at least nothing interesting. You had been training with everyone on campus, hung out around town, and basically alternated between the two for the past month. Sure, you had missions from time to time, but it was nothing like what they had been putting Itadori, Megumi, and Nobara through.
Since their promotion to first grade sorcerers, they had been getting a whole lot more missions, and were hardly ever around to hang out. From time to time, one of them would be off long enough to talk and train with you, but then they'd get pulled away all over again and you'd just be hanging around campus like some wimp.
You couldn't help it anymore; it was hard to admit, but you were jealous that you had been the only first year still stuck in the back. Even Itadori, who had just started at Jujutsu Tech had been seen worthy enough of getting first grade, but you? You who had been training for years weren't even close. It got discouraging for a bit, but you tried to use that frustration to fuel your strength... the only problem was, now that you were seen as a lower grade sorcerer than the other first years, you hardly had any opportunities to prove yourself. All the missions you had gone on at this point were against curses that had little to no power; there wasn't anything to prove if you had no competition at all. For a little, you wondered if there was some kind of discrimination against you... maybe the higher ups had something against you.
Or maybe you really were just a weak comrade.
"[Name], what's up! I feel like I haven't seen you in so long!" Nobara stepped in to the common area where you were currently sat at, contemplating all of your life choices, "what are you thinking so hard for? Let's go shopping, I've been dying to try this new coffee place that opened up recently, people online say they got a yummy black sesame latte!"
"I don't really feel like going out right now, maybe tomorrow," you sunk deeper into the couch, feeling her pouting fit creeping up already, "are the others back or are they too busy to hang out around here anymore?"
"Well, Itadori went off with Gojo somewhere as soon as we both got back, and I think Megumi was telling me he'd be back by sunset," it was like she could feel your bad mood; a small, polite smile on her face as she sat down next to you, "has something been going on? You don't seem like yourself today."
"I'm fine," you lied. I mean, how were you supposed to explain to her that you were jealous of her success? She's your friend, after all. You're supposed to be happy for her, "just feeling a little tired. I might just go outside and take a walk or something, get my head cleared up. Tell me if that cafe is any good though, maybe I'll go when I got some time."
You stood up, walking away from her as quickly as you could without making it seem like you were mad. She could probably tell, though, by the way your shoulders tensed and how she didn't bother following you. She always knew to give you space; that's why, right now, this jealous feeling had to go. She was too good a friend to deserve this kind of anger towards her.
