Lou was drawing a picture while Rune worked. They were at his office. She wanted to be with him today, and he let her. She had brought books and snacks, ready to spend the whole day with him.
Rune peered over her shoulder. "That looks good."
"Thanks," she hummed. "I am not very good at this."
"It just needs some color," Rune said, going around to his desk and pulling out a large bag of colorful pens.
She narrowed her eyes, "You aren't the color type."
"I'm not, but you are." He kissed her forehead, and she smiled in thanks. It was sweet that he kept a few things around for her.
It was soothing to put her mind to a task other than reading. Rune let her do some work too if she asked. She helped him file, answer the phone, anything he asked. She liked feeling needed.
Lou found out that Wendy survived her injuries. She couldn't believe what she had gotten herself into. She must have a magnet for danger. No wonder the hiring process was so easy, it was too good to be true.
And while it was scary, it was still nice to have a job and place to sleep that was her own. Ever since she was 18, she had struggled to find a job that would pay for food and housing and bills. Working for Wendy was a dream come true.
Living in Rune's apartment also felt like a dream. It was safe and clean, plus Rune was there. He was her best friend now. She just wished she could contribute in some way. She didn't really know how to do anything.
"It's your job to do what I fucking tell you to do," Rune snapped on the phone, startling her from her thoughts.
She half listened to his heated conversation with an employee, or maybe a client. She couldn't tell. She tried to focus on the flowers she was sketching with her pencil.
"Come here, Lulu," Rune called.
She was happy to do so, going around his desk to sit on his lap. He wrapped his arms around her and she rested her head on his chest.
"We should eat lunch, honey. What are you thinking?"
"You usually pack some," she whispered, eyes shutting at the comfort that hummed through her body.
"I thought we could treat ourselves today. We've both been working hard. I'll order whatever you want."
Lou immediately had an answer. "Chicken tenders please."
Rune smiled. This one was soft and endearing and melted her heart. She pecked his lips.
"I have a place in mind. They have the best milkshakes too," he said, his nose bumping hers.
Lou smiled, giving him another peck.
"We can pick it up on the way home. I'll eat with you before I have to go to the Warehouse."
"Maybe I could come with you?" she asked.
"That's not the place you want to be."
She nodded. She trusted his judgement.
She sat with him while he wrapped things up, and then they packed up to go home.
She watched him on the elevator ride down. She couldn't help but soak him. He was so good looking, especially when he wore the dark suits like he was today, just a few buttons open on top so she could catch a glimpse of his chest tattoos.
"Lou," Rune said, warning her. He turned to face her.
"What?" she asked sweetly, innocently.
"You don't want me to show you what," he said, taking a step forward. She took a step back.
The elevator dinged and she giggled, taking his hand
"You got lucky," he said, swatting her butt as she stepped into the car. She greeted the driver. His name was Victor.
Lou gave another laugh. "I am lucky because I get chicken tenders."
It was quiet. She played with Rune's fingers, tugging on them and bending them till they popped. His knuckles were scabbed over which was gross. She needed to remind him to take better care when he was hitting stuff.
"Rune," she whispered, until he looked over at her. "Please kiss me."
He smirked, leaning close. She closed her eyes. "You want a kiss?"
She huffed, "I said please."
He placed his hand on her thigh, running his hand along her pants. She released a shaky breath, feeling her stomach twist into knots.
"You're not being fair," Lou said. "How would you feel if I started rubbing your thigh?"
She reached her hand over but he caught it, holding it tight enough that she couldn't get it back. She couldn't help but laugh at their silly game.
"Rune," she whined. "Give me my hand back."
He brought her hand to his lips.
"There's your kiss," he said, releasing his grip.
Victor pulled out in front of a diner, and Rune gave her an actual kiss before he left to pickup their food.
---
"What sauce do you want?" Lou called to Rune who was untying his shoes. She sipped her milkshake, doing a happy wiggle at the taste. Today had been a good day.
She turned, nearly jumping three feet when she saw Rune standing there watching her.
"Why are you standing there like that?" she asked, confused.
"You're a fucking tease," he growled, taking several large strides to reach. He had her backed into the wall in no time.
"I am not," she huffed, trying really hard not to wiggle against him. He was just so hot, and she loved his kisses.
"No?" His features darkened. He hated when she told him no, but she loved to push his buttons.
She almost kept her mouth shut, almost. "No."
As soon as the word left her mouth, his lips were on her. He kissed her hard, punishing. She didn't know where to put her hands, so she gripped his shirt.
She moaned into his lips, sliding her hands up and down his chest.
"Jump," he demanded, and she did, wrapping her legs around his waist and putting herself in a much more compromising position.
His hips kept bumping hers. She was so turned on it wasn't even funny.
He pulled back slightly to give her some air. Her chest heaved, and so did his.
"Such a pretty girl," he said, pressing his lips to her flushed cheeks. He set her on her feet.
"You can't leave me like this," she whined when he moved away.
"Leave you like what, honey?" he teased. "So fucking wet that you've soaked your panties?"
He took a seat on the island, as if filthy words didn't just leave his mouth.
She huffed. "You're mean."
"Actually, I'm late. If you want me to eat with you, you better come sit. The longer you take, the longer I will be gone tonight."
She sat next to him. The food was good enough that she almost forgot about her situation.
"I promise I will take care of you properly tonight," Rune said sincerely, giving her a gentle kiss.
