Eudora was sat at the stool facing the barrier from the outside world. Rain soothingly smashed against this barrier, the window; The dark, grey clouds blocked the sun from reaching this. Eudora loved this. it meant she didn't have to face the usual problem of being blinded from the sun when sat in this area of the café. But even when this happened, she didn't move. She had been coming since her early teens, to study, catch a break or just to sit and think. It was a nice little place, probably the only thing she liked about the city she lived in, which helped to make it hard for her when she moved away. This seat had always been the one she sat in, and if she wasn't sat there she would watch who was, to snatch the space as soon as they left. The rainy weather was always her favourite, especially when near a window, relaxing or listening to the beat of the droplets hit the glass. The café was normally quiet around this time of day, it was 7:30 pm on a Wednesday afternoon. Most people at this point were working a late shift at work, on their way home or already home, not determined to leave again for the day. That's what Eudora loved about the place. It stayed open until 11 at night, which is close to when she felt best, especially alone, and it was quiet, so she could do what she came there to do without distractions. However, this had to be the one day that this didn't happen. as the rain started to pick up, more and people found themselves wandering through the dark brown doors. It seemed that most people would rather sit down and have a drink and cake until the rain stops than wandering aimlessly around a shop; It wasn't like many shops were open at this time anyway. Eudora didn't mind, she liked watching the people on the streets run for shelter from the rain whenever she spiked her head up to take a sip from her coffee.
She got caught in a sip that lasted longer than usual, and caught herself staring at someone. Just as she looked back down to her book, the main focus of her café trip, the familiar bell rang above the door, signalling someone's enter, or exit. She ignored it, not normally would she have done that, as it often isn't crowded, but as it was busy, she didn't care. Shortly after, she heard a raspy voice near her and chose to ignore it. Again, it was busy, probably just someone sat near her talking to whoever they came in with, for some reason sounding closer than previously. Whoever that voice belonged to then proceeded to tap her on the shoulder. Eudora's head shot up, catching a glance of a tall, dark dressed man in the reflection of the window before turning to see him.
"Sorry," smiled the mysterious man. "I didn't mean to bother you, I did say excuse me, but then again you are listening to music, I wouldn't of expected you to hear me over it"
The earphones Eudora was seen to be wearing only played quiet rain sounds, to add on to the real life effect that they were creating for her, as well as cancelling out the loud chattering of the rest of the café. Playing music would be way to distracting for her reading task. Even though she could hear him, she couldn't do it well. As soon as she looked up into his dark eyes and seeing that with the mix of hearing his raspy voice, she couldn't help but let her mind wander. Not in the good way. She started to panic before answering. What did he want? He intimidated her. Not necessarily on purpose. But he didn't seem like the type of person Eudora would want to mess up a word with, like he would easily get the wrong idea of what her words meant. He spoke with purpose, well pronounced words, too. then she realised why she was so intimidated, that part aside. he was oddly familiar. Not like the type of person Eudora had had in her life before, or even spoke to, just the type of person she had seen. Maybe a model on a billboard or a catwalk show, he had the build and facial structure for it. Then she clocked it, he was who she had accidentally watched walk outside the shop. The bell above the door she ignored must of been his entry, and he was right behind her, in the space he was still stood when he spoke to her. Just as she was about to enter another thought, she remembered she hadn't replied to his first words. Luckily, she's a fast thinker, and he mind rushed through these thoughts, so it wasn't like she was just staring at him blankly for minutes on end, just a few seconds. Eudora grabbed her earphones out her ears immediately, making sure she could catch every word and didn't come off rude.
