A/N: Hello again! Apparently I'm a maniac and can't stop writing. This one's more angsty than my others. I really love this band, song and book the story is inspired by! Again, any feedback or song recs is very much appreciated!

A few notes before getting started:

- Changing POVs that will be shown in each section

- Nini's last name is "Jones"

- Mention of substance abuse, addiction and drinking with some explicit language

- All songs mentioned are actual ones by Arctic Monkeys & you can find them all in their album "AM" if you want the band's vibe in the story

I wanna be your vacuum cleaner
Breathing in your dust
I wanna be your Ford Cortina
I will never rust
If you like your coffee hot
Let me be your coffee pot
You call the shots, babe
I just wanna be yours

Nini's POV

I fell in love with the wrong guy who was exactly the right guy, Ricky Bowen. The moment I stepped into that studio for my audition for the band, I knew I was a goner. That is, until he opened his obnoxious mouth. He didn't think the sound I was giving the band's song was gritty enough— told me to make it more like "Mad Sounds" the popular song that had recently come out. I smirked at him and told him I wrote that song so I think I'd know the feel of it. Ricky thought I was kidding until I had him physically check the vinyl for songwriters. He kept quiet after that and let me sing it again while the band snickered.

After that day, I was officially asked to join the band as one of the lead singers and started touring the existing album. During this time, Ricky and I were tasked with writing the next album— an almost impossible task. We butted heads from the beginning, always having differing views on how the next album should sound. Until we wrote a song together; that changed everything for us. I found out everything that made me burn, made him burn. I was dealing with my drinking and drug use at the time along with my slew of groupies I had allowed into my bed. Ricky was dealing mostly with his drinking and trying to remain faithful to his wife.

That writing session, we wrote our first hit together, "Do I wanna know?" He had started the session as a complete deviant to me, rejecting melodies or lyrics I offered since he already had almost the whole song ready. So, to soothe his ego I had him start there and added my own input on lyrics since they were too emo for the direction we were trying to go in. Once we had finished, he told me "I like writing with you. I'm serious, you made the song better."

I was shocked, but we had just made a great song together so I responded "I like writing with you too"

Then he said something he probably shouldn't, he said "I like a lot about you"

I was speechless, it meant too much to me. Songwriting was my only escape and my only love up until then and for him to recognize that— I- I was so grateful. To finally be seen that way, as a good songwriter, but something more as well was beyond validating.

I think at that point, even when we did bicker a bit, I had started liking a lot about Ricky Bowen too. That scared me right out that studio.

Secrets I have held in my heart
Are harder to hide than I thought
Maybe I just wanna be yours
I wanna be yours

Ricky's POV

I thought she was the most beautiful woman I had seen in my life, Nina Jones. Better known now to me and the rest of the world as Nini. She was a hurricane, I told her that one time too and she slapped me across the face— it was playful as we were both tipsy, but I never did it again. From the moment she stepped into that studio I knew she was trouble. It wasn't anything she did or said necessarily, but more so of who she was and what I knew she'd mean for me. A challenge, to my band, to my songwriting and to my marriage.
