We were both racing to Buddy Buddy Temple at top speed when I heard a small cry.

I immediately pulled to a stop.

My ears perked as I looked around.

Shadow paused too.

I heard the tiny cry again and I went looking for it.

Shadow followed me.

Which surprised me since Shadow normally didn’t care.

I then found the source of the cries.

There were two small hoglets curled together under a blanket with a note.

One was black and the other was blue and red.

If you are reading this It’s because we lost. Also, If you are reading this. It means you have my children. Shade and Night. Please take care of them. We might be gone now. Me, My husband, My husband’s friends, Probably all of earth but even so. Please don’t let my children die.

I blinked.

Earth?

Behind me Shadow was silent.

“What do we do?” I said stupidly.

“We save them." Shadow said simply while picking up the blue and red one.

"Hey!" I yelped at him.

"What? You weren't doing anything." Shadow told me stiffly.

"We shouldn't separate them." I said.

"I doubt it will be for long. At any rate. I have a friend who knows a bit about everything. I'll have her help me with.. Shade." Shadow decided.

I was surprised.

"You have other friends?" I asked him in confusion.

Shadow nodded and then he zoomed off leaving me with the dark colored hoglet.

I sighed and awkwardly picked the little guy up.

His eyes opened and they were red.

"Hi little man." I smiled at him softly.

He stared at me for a total of three seconds and then cried.

I was confused.

I mean. I'd never dealt with kids or babies.

Wait!

Amy babysitted on the weekends!

She would know what to do!

I grabbed the note and then I ran.

I made it to Amy's in record time.

I then hastily knocked on the door.

Amy opened it and I shoved the note in her face.

"He is not mine. I don't know who his dad or mom is or what an earth is but.. He needs help. Amy you gotta help!" I blabbered.

Amy blinked and then the baby cried again and she took him from me and walked inside.

I followed her as she got milk out of her fridge and started feeding the baby.

I watched as the baby devoured what was in the bottle and calmed down.

I then continued to observe as Amy put a diaper on and turned to me.

"Alright. That should be good enough for now but Sonic. I can't keep this child." Amy told me.

I nodded.

"I know. I found him. I think it's kinda my responsibility." I said awkwardly.

Amy stared at me in shock.

"Sonic? Is that really you? Responsibility?" Amy said in surprise.

I nodded.

"His name is Night. I think." I said while shuffling my feet.

Night then looked at me from Amy's arms.

I gently took him back and sighed.

"So.. Uhh.. I'm not really sure how this all works. Think you could help a hedgehog out?" I asked Amy with a smile.

Amy shook her head.

"You are insane. How are you going to take care of a child and the village at the same time?" Amy asked me.

I shrugged.

I had no idea.

"Ugh. Okay. I'll help you by babysitting him when you have to go on missions but that's it." Amy told me firmly.

I nodded.

"Thankyou Amy." I told her.

"Now. I'm going to bring a baby starter kit to your house." Amy told me while grabbing things.

I merely went back to my house and opened the door.

I hadn't been to my own house in awhile since I normally lived with Tails.

Which Tails realized because he approached me.

"Sonic?" I heard Tails say behind me.

I turned around.

"Buddy. Umm. Look. I apparently now have a child since I saved his little life from the forest. I doubt you want to live in a house with a baby. Not to mention. Our house is a total baby hazard right now, so, I'm going to stay here for like. A while probably." I told Tails awkwardly.

Tails just stared at me in shock.

"Trust me. I thought the same thing." Amy said from behind Tails.

"But. Why not just leave him at the town orphanage?" Tails asked me.

I stared at him like he was stupid.

"I saved his life. He's my responsibility." I stated.

Not to mention. I had been raised in an orphanage and.. Well.. Night just seemed important.

Tails sighed.

"Okay. Fine. Just. Umm. Don't make a decision you'll regret, okay?" Tails told me.

I nodded.

I then went into my house and Amy was setting up a crib.

It just felt weird.

I was going to be taking care of a baby.

What the hell had my life come to in the past three hours?

I shook my head and watched as Amy got a couple more things ready.

I then asked Amy to move some of the stuff like the crib to my room and I went to bed.
