Eleven minutes later, Abby, Ryan, and Maryen arrived at Mount Sinai Medical Center, a hospital in New York City. They parked and walked into the building.

"Hello, Miss Miller, how are you?" asked the receptionist.

"I'm well, thank you. I'm here to take a DNA test; I believe this boy, Ryan, might be the son I gave up for his well-being," Abby replied.

"Please go to the 7th floor; I'll inform Dr. Andrews," the receptionist said as she notified the doctor.

The trio took the elevator to the 7th floor, where they were greeted by Dr. Natalya Andrews, who had known Abby for years.

"Hello, Abby. Are you here for a DNA test to determine if Ryan is your son?" Dr. Andrews inquired.

"Yes," Abby confirmed.

"Come this way, please."

They followed Dr. Andrews to an examination room where she produced two swabs.

"Could you both open your mouths for me, please?"

Abby complied, and the doctor swabbed the inside of her cheek. After repeating the process with Ryan, Dr. Andrews said, "All done, excellent work." She then placed the swabs in separate bags. "We should have the results by Wednesday; we'll call you."

"Alright," Abby said, "ready to head to my apartment? You can stay with me if you'd like."

"Yes, please."

"Alright then."

Together, Abby, Ryan, and Maryen made their way to the elevator, which descended to the lobby. Exiting the hospital, they crossed the parking lot, entered an Escalade, and drove away.

Ten minutes later, they arrived at a 131-story condominium located at 57th & Broadway. Their duplex apartment spanned the 107th and 108th floors, boasting over 12,500 square feet, complete with seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms. The first level featured a reception/gallery, foyer, family room, two media rooms, two bedrooms, a grand salon with dining and living areas, a second gallery, kitchen, library, and two terraces—one facing north and the other west. A circular staircase led to the second level, housing five bedrooms, including the master, and a sitting room.

"This is a pretty cool place," Ryan remarked.

"Thanks," Abby replied as they entered the living room. "Would you like to hear a story?"

"Sure."

"In late September of 1999, I was celebrating one of my dancer's achievements. I had a bit too much to drink, and well, you know the rest. Two weeks later, in early October, I discovered I was pregnant. I was concerned about raising the child properly, so after giving birth on June 19th—the day after my father passed away—to a boy, I named him Ryan and entrusted him to a friend for a better life. It was a tough decision, but it was for his well-being," Abby shared.

"Wow," Ryan responded. "Did you ever find him?"

"I did, but so far, nothing has come up," Abby admitted. "Hopefully, I'll find him."

"You will, have no fear."

"Aw, thanks. You're such a sweet kid."

"You're welcome."

What Abby and Ryan didn't realize was that the day the DNA results came in would be a life-changing day for them.

Two days later, at Abby's apartment, Abby was in the kitchen and Ryan was watching TV. It was 5:30 PM, and over those two days, Abby's connection with Ryan had grown increasingly strong for some reason. On both nights, Ryan had slept in the living room. Suddenly, Abby heard her phone ring and answered it.

"Hello?"

"Miss Miller, we have the DNA results," Dr. Andrews informed Abby.

"Okay, we'll be right over," Abby replied before she hung up and turned to Ryan. "The DNA results are in."

"Alrighty," Ryan stated.

"Mom, we're off to the hospital because the DNA results are in!" Abby shouted to Maryen.

"Alright, call me once you've read the results," Maryen instructed.

"We will."

Abby and Ryan left the apartment, descended in the elevator to the lobby, exited the building, and climbed into the Escalade. Ten minutes later, they arrived at Mount Sinai Medical Center, eager for the results. Ryan hoped Abby was his biological mother, and Abby secretly wished Ryan was her long-lost son. They entered the building, ascended to the 7th floor, and entered the examination room where they had taken the test.

"Let's hope for the best," Abby said to Ryan.

"Let's," Ryan agreed.

"Are you ready for the results?" Dr. Andrews inquired of Abby and Ryan.

"Yes," Ryan replied.

"As ready as we'll ever be," Abby added.

Dr. Andrews opened the envelope and extracted the paper with the results, as Abby and Ryan's hearts pounded.

"Ryan, regarding whether Miss Miller is your biological mother, Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City has determined that the DNA test result is....."
