There are 4 magic families: Sakuma, Takashi, Matsuda and Tachibana. Each family has their own special ability.
The Sakuma family has Divine ability as their special ability, meaning godly power since they made a contract with The Goddess of Light/Rising Sun Amaterasu. The Takashi family has future sight, with a contract with the God of Weather Raijin & Fūjin. The Matsuda Family has moon-like weapons, with a contract Tsukuyomi. Then the last was The Tachibana Family who has archery like weapons with carvings of storm magic with the contract with the God of Sea and Storm Susanoo.
Each family has a gift by each god they made a contract with abilities, weapons with powers enchanted, grimoires or any kind of gift. All families train their abilities that the gods gave them. Each family member inherits or talent for the abilities at the age 10-12. If they have lack of talent or fail to inherit the abilities they are shunned.
The family member must train and prepare before inheriting it and show they have the talent for it. It takes 10 or 12 years to train and prepare for it.
Aiyoku Sakuma failed to inherit the Divine abilities and never had the talent for it. The family shunned him and other families looked down. But his brother Satoru Sakuma inherited and has the talent for the Divine Ability. He showed to improve over and over by showing to be a prodigy.
Aiyoku practiced other abilities, such as gravity and fire. And thus he made a contract with the God of Fire Kagutsuchi. Also known as Ho-Musabi or Hinokami. As a result of him showing the talent for that. The family was shocked.
