A/N: Up sooner than I expected, but I doubt anyone would complain about that.
Maybe read and enjoy? (And maybe drop some comments along the way because I like reading your guys' thoughts?) :)

They ended up at a small diner to eat, tucked away in a booth in the back corner at Ally's request. Because Lauren had a later flight, they were some of the few occupants in the diner.
Lauren ordered the simplest item on the menu, chicken tenders and fries with a coke, and Ally did the same.
"We can always get something fancier another day. We have a week," the older woman reasoned.
"I just didn't really want to think about what to eat," Lauren admitted. "Most restaurants have that on the menu. It was the easiest thing to choose." She dragged her finger across the table top and asked softly, "Can we not talk about anything related to our work?"
Ally nodded and smiled. "Sure. But don't think I'm not on to you. I know something is up, Lo," she warned, giving a slight glare. "But, we can not talk about it right now. How about we figure out a plan for what we're gonna do while you're here?"
Lauren grinned, the tiniest bit of excitement lighting her eyes, and nodded. "Yeah, you said you had some ideas before."
"Well, there's always just holing up in my room at my parents' house with snacks and binge watching stuff and not coming out for a week," Ally said. "But that's probably what I'm going to do after you leave, and I would much rather actually do stuff while you're here." She paused for a moment and then wrinkled her nose. "Don't take that in a dirty way. You know what I mean."
Lauren laughed lightly and raised her hands in defense. "I wasn't going to say anything. What 'stuff' did you have in mind then?"
Ally regarded the younger woman suspiciously before she began to explain. "Well, like I mentioned before, we could drive down to Galveston for a few days. There's beaches we could go to, but they also have an amusement park and festivals. We could spend a day or two there. Oh! And an aquarium!" she added excitedly, clapping her hands several times. "I haven't been to one in ages. And they have like, five species of penguins. They're so cute, Lo."
Lauren chuckled quietly at the other woman's rambling. "It sounds like you have a plan already."
Ally blushed and ducked her head. "We don't have to if you don't want to. I just really really wanna go on an aquarium date. Even if it's a friend-date."
"Well, penguins are pretty cute," Lauren hummed.
"They're so cute," Ally agreed without hesitation. "They're so awkward and clumsy. There's a video I watch at least twice a week where one in a group falls and then they all fall over. They're just so funny."
Lauren shook her head with a smile of amused fondness.
Their food arrived then, and they ate in silence for a few minutes, but then Lauren spoke again.
"That sounds like a good plan, Als. Laying on the beach and doing nothing for a few hours sounds like a good idea, too, though I'm not sure I'd want to get into the water in the middle of February."
"We can just make it like a little picnic then," Ally suggested. "Or just go with the flow of whatever. Honestly, I'm just happy to be spending time with you again, Laur. We can just make everyday an adventure of spontaneity if you want. Heck, we could try and get lost in a random city, and I would still say I had a great time because I'm with you."
"I would like to still be alive at the end of this trip, and I would also like you to be alive because I would miss you, so let's not get lost anywhere."
