Chapter 39: Sparks Of An Inextinguishable Fire

Flint sent out Rapidash, as Paul sent out Gyrados. As Gyrados gets sent out, Intimidate springs in effect, as Rapidash's attack goes down. Paul knew even with the type advantage he couldn't let his guard down around Flint.

Paul: "Gyrados Dragon Dance!"

Gyrados twirls in a circle, as it's attack and speed goes up.

Flint: "Come on! Let's make this a quick and fun battle! Rapidash Flare Blitz!"

Rapidash moves in quickly, as Gyrados continues to dance around.

Paul: 'Wait for it!' 

Rapidash continues to move closer and closer.

Paul: 'Hold it! Wait for it!'

Rapidash comes inches away, as Paul notices the moment.

Paul: 'Now!' "Gyrados Waterfall!"

With the speed boost and attack damage up, Gyrados lands a critical and super effective Waterfall, sending Rapidash straight down and barely standing. Flint keeps a small smirk on his face, choosing to save Rapidash for later and sends out Lopunny. The two continue standing and staring waiting for each other to make a move.

Flint: "Lopunny High Jump Kick."

Lopunny jumps into the air, before aiming towards Gyrados and coming straight down.

Paul: 'Gyrados will just outspeed it. I'll just dodge it.' "Gyrados move around it."

Gyrados prepares to move around, as Flint watches closely. Lopunny misses the target with High Jump Kick dealing significant damage towards itself, as Paul takes advantage.

Paul: "Gyrados Ice Fang!"

Flint: "Lopunny Thunder punch behind you."

Lopunny without looking around, sends a Thunder punch behind itself landing a direct hit on Gyrados sending it flying back and on low health. As Gyrados tries to recover, electricity flows through its body as it flinches from paralysis. Paul chooses to return Gyrados.

Paul: 'Gyrados won't be effective with its paralysis. I'll play the slow game.' "Torterra!"

Paul sends out Torterra, as Flint quickly makes his move.

Flint: "Fire punch!"

Paul: "Rock climb."

Lopunny moves in for a Fire Punch, as Torterra just barely dodges with Rock climb.

Paul: "Leech seed."

Torterra plants seeds, as they slowly sap away on Lopunny's health. Flint looks unconcerned, as he orders Lopunny to go after Torterra.

Flint: "High Jump Kick."

With Torterra stuck up high, Paul is stuck with letting Lopunny land a High Jump Kick, which sends Torterra crashing into the ground. However, Torterra holds strong, forcing Lopunny's leg from fully crashing Torterra into the ground.

Paul: "Torterra Crunch!"

Torterra turns around, crunching into Lopunny's leg and locks it from escaping.

Flint: "Fire Punch!"

Lopunny throws multiple Fire punches, which 50% hit. Torterra holds its ground, as it continues to heal slowly from Leech Seed.

Paul: "Giga Drain."

Torterra drains more of Lopunny's health, as Lopunny screams out in pain. Taking full advantage of Lopunny not attacking, Paul orders Torterra's finishing blow.

Paul: "Solar Beam!"

Torterra charges up, as Lopunny looks towards the bright light with no where to go. A full powered Solar Beam launches Lopunny towards the wall of the room and fainting it. Flint returns Lopunny, sending back out his low health Rapidash.
