You awoke to the sound of a loud, steady beeping noise.

You adjusted yourself slightly, your body now facing the direction of what you assumed at first to be your alarm clock. You reach out and wave your arm, eyes still shut tightly in hopes of maintaining your fatigue, attempting to hit your clock's snooze button to silence the sound of the obnoxious device... But nothing happened. Nothing made contact with your palm as you waved your arm into empty, open space. You groan, finally opening your tired eyes hoping to spot your stupid clock and shut it off....

You froze.

What greeted your now open irises was darkness, the same darkness that you had seen when your eyes were still closed. At first, you paused in confusion... then you chuckled. Obviously, this was a dream. You pinched yourself, amused at the strange dream you were in and eagerly waiting for the pinch to wake you up...

Your once lax, drowsy demeanor dissipated as soon as you realized that you weren't being subjected to an odd dream... You were awake. You were awake, and you were terrified.

Hesitantly, you called out for your parents, your voice slurred and cracking from lack of use... no answer.

You tried calling out your siblings' names, your voice breaking from the increase in volume... Nothing.

You began to panic.

You cried. You screamed. You begged for someone, ANYONE, to help you... but all you were met with was silence. A silence that was selfishly polluted by that goddamn beeping sound that only seemed to get louder and louder in your ears.

Between the sound of the beeping, your senses suddenly became aware of other things in the space you were in. The fragrant aroma, the cacophony of smells, that reminded you of cough syrup and hand sanitizer... The sharp, pounding agony in your head that felt like your skull was pulsating under the flesh of your scalp... The scratchy, unfamiliar texture of something wrapped around your body, tightly constricting the movement of your limbs and giving off the feel of something akin to canvas and tissue paper...

You lost it.

You struggled, straining yourself against your restraints as you continued to scream and cry. Suddenly you felt what seemed to be several pairs of hands all over you, pushing and struggling against you as you tried to break free. You were so caught up in your fear-driven panic that you hadn't even noticed others had entered the space you were in, having finally taken notice of your now conscious and unstable state... but like with everything else... you could not see them. And this terrified you even more.

You cried and begged for the unseen creatures to let you go and for someone to please come and save you...

You heard the creatures' voices, ones that seemed to blend and blur in the background of that accursed beeping sound. The beeping sound of which you just now realized had increased in speed and pitch. The sound echoed loudly in your ears, filling your head as you screamed into the darkened void around you...

Had you been sober, you would have realized through all the signs that you were hospitalized, after getting drunk one night at a party. You had left the party, choosing to drive yourself home despite your condition... and having become exhausted from your drunken fun, proceeded to doze off and unknowingly lead your car into the middle of a four-way intersection... Only to be struck by a speeding semi-truck in your drunken slumber. The accident had not only bruised and broken several bones in your body, but the sheer force of the impact had also caused severe brain trauma... which ended in you getting permanent blindness as a result.

END.
