She would like to agree to it, but part of her knew it was just not right.Because her youth was finally gone a few
hours ago, when a silken white gown which she thought was for her birthday day arrived at her room, when the handmaids bathed her in warm gardenia water, when mother allowed her to be very beautiful and red and bare, but not particularly bare. But it wasn't for her birthday or for father's, or for mother's. It was for her wedding.
"A wedding?" Y/n "said, her voice raising in what seemed like a combination of shock and self-containment. "With the man of their own choosing." She told herself.
"You will be a woman now. Not a lady, a woman, y/n... A powerful one." Mother made sure of that as she caressed her pink, moist cheeks. "You will marry your bestfriend, CEO Lee's son, carry your little boys and girls, and when the time comes, you will have a very special place in their company. You will be the richest woman in the city until then, establishing a legacy that would last for generations, and you will live a happy life with your husband."
But this is not what they both wanted. Well, she might have wanted it once, when loving him wasn't a sin yet.
Y/n and Heeseung were kindred souls the moment they came out to see the world for the first time. Life started when they played pretends. Y/n would count the times Heeseung was there to tend to her wounds everytime she falls when playing tag. And the last time was the thirtieth time.
Love started when she realized the thirtieth time was a very long time trying to deny that she was starting to care for him. Love was when she looked at him and saw her reflection. Well, a prettier one. She liked to think that Heeseung looked at her the way she would imagine him in her mind; a piece that filled in the gap in her heart.
There was a brand new reflection one day.
"Y/n, I want you to meet g/n." Heeseung said, locking his fingers on the girl's. "My girlfriend."
Y/n never wanted to hear it, but his words came out differently because for the first time, he hurt her. He hurt her but she had to keep it all by herself.
Someone was prettier and had the best clothes and wore better smiles and stole many hearts just by being around, and for y/n, it hurt.
Love was when she had to watch the lovers fight and make up for countless times and realize they were growing stronger each time. It was hard to try to think that someone would love her the same way one day, but part of her wished—badly wished — that they would. But she would always hear Heeseung's stories.
"G/n said she wants to get married for the next three years...She wants to run a coffee shop of our own...It would be heaven to live with her in our own house and lie down in our garden at night, just looking at the stars... to getting drunk with her...she said we would drink a lot when we live together."
He would give his life just to say those words again. That was his favorite paragraph. He would keep those things in his mind like songs. And now, just like songs, someone else—no, she— had to sing them.
