-3rd person (POV)-

It has been a year since the war between demons and the demon slayers, a year since (Y/N)'s sister's death, which broke her to deep guilt of not protecting her older sister. When she was informed of her sister's death she cried for weeks on end until it seemed her emotions disappeared as her (E/C) eyes looked blank and empty, the once beautiful smile never graced upon her lips since she heard the news.

Her younger sister Kanao took it upon herself to try to heal her older sister's pain but nothing worked, leaving Kanao heartbroken that her older sister was no longer the joyous person she was, now just a shell of herself.

Kanao was walking through the halls of the butterfly estate to tell her older sister about how she were she was able to find Shinobu's hair pin while walking through the ruins of the old ubuyashiki estate, when she suddenly heard something shatter in her sister's room making her sprint there instead quickly pulling the sliding door open, worrying that she tried to walk by herself again, only to see her sister standing in front of the shattered window, this made Kanao rush over to check over her sister for injuries.

"What were you thinking?!" Kanao asked (Y/N) when she finished inspecting her hands,

"I don't know" (Y/N) answered bluntly, this made Kanao sigh as she grabbed (Y/N)'s hand leading her outside.

"Stay out here while I clean up the glass shards, okay?" Kanao said walking back to the room.

-(Y/N)'s POV-

I stared at the butterflies flying around me, some landing on my nose and hair. I look up at the sky watching as the clouds past by, as a gentle breeze blew through my hair.

"Y'know everyone's worried about you" A voice behind me said, I turned my body around to see Sanemi standing there with his arms crossed over his chest.

"... Hm, But I'm perfectly fine..besides my legs, there's nothing to worry about?" I answered confused by his words, is that why people were constantly checking on me?

"Really? That's how you are now, you used to be skipping around everywhere or was that an act that you need anymore now that Shinobu's dead?!" Sanemi yelled out, my eyes widen at his statement, making me clench my fists under my sleeves.

"Don't speak of Shinobu-Nee-San like that, she's dead because I couldn't protect her because I wasn't good enough she sacrificed herself to kill the demon that killed Kanae-Nee-San!" I shouted at white-haired male as tears started gathering in my eyes. Sanemi's eyes widen before walking towards me giving me a hug as I wept into his shoulder.

"Don't think like that Shinobu loved you dearly and never would of wanted you to feel like she was disappointed in you, she was proud of everything you did whether it was small or big she was always proud of you." Sanemi said with a gentle smile as pat my head t soothe my sobs.

Pulling away from Sanemi I heard footsteps walking over to us before stopping at the door way.

"What happened here" Kanao asked as she headed towards me noticing my red eyes from crying, turning and slightly glaring at Sanemi.

"Look I was just comforting her" Sanemi said turning and walking away as he waved to us. Kanao turned around to inspect me to see if I was hurt.

"Are you ok?" Kanao asked, I nodded in reply. She sighed before smiling and leading me too my room and making me sit on my bed before she sat behind me and undone my hair and placed my butterfly pin on the bedside table and grabbed my hairbrush to which I raised my eyebrow but allowed her to continue.

"When I was on my walk earlier I found something can you guess what it is?" Kanao asked as she brushed through my (H/C) hair, I looked down at the ground thinking about what it could be that she found.

"I don't know" I replied, she giggled at my answer before moving to sit beside me, grabbing something from her pocket in her Hoari and slowly pulling it out, revealing Shinobu's hair pin the pin that went missing a year ago. I started tearing up as I gently grabbed it out of her hands pulling it to my chest, softly smiling for the first time since Shinobu's death.

"Thank you, Kanao" I said raising my hand to her head and gently caressing her hair as she softly smiled at me.

-A few minutes later-

Pulling my hand away and softly smiling at her, she returns the smile.

"I hope you have a good sleep Kanao" I said as she made her way to the door, before turning around and returning with a 'good night and sleep well' back before leaving and closing the door behind her.
