She ran, Riven's body floating behind her. She was running back to Alfea. Back to Professor Harvey who could stop the bleeding.
Marlene was running for Riven's life.
But despite this, despite the urgent need to keep going, she felt herself growing weaker and weaker. Drained by her powers keeping Riven afloat, and drained from killing the Burned one.
So she pulled out her phone and called the first number she saw. He picked up on the second ring.
"Marlene? Whatsup?" Sky asked, his voice calm and even.
"Sky- greenhouse. Riven's hurt." She panted into the phone as she kept running despite her tiredness increasing immensely but she had to keep going.
"What? Why- Marls what's wrong?" He asked, his voice increasingly alarmed.
"Sky! Please!" She sobbed, "I can't!" and Sky hung up.
When Marlene reached the edge of the greenhouse she saw them all. Sky, Stella, Bloom, Terra, Musa, Aisha, Harvey, Dowling, and Silva. When her friends caught sight of her they began to run towards her. Marlene let out a relieved laugh and felt all the air escape her.
Sky reached her first and she wanted to collapse into him but she pointed to Riven behind her, still floating, held up by the small breeze Marlene controlled.
"Help him." She panted and the girls reached her. She fell gladly into Aisha's arms and once she saw Sky's arms around Riven, safely holding him up she let her powers fall slack.
Sky carried riven into the greenhouse where Harvey immediately began to bind his wound on his abdomen and Marlene had one arm around Stella's shoulder and the other around Aisha's.
"What happened Marlene?" Dowling asked, her eyes flickering from Riven to her.
"B-burned one- it's okay. It's- it's dead." She breathed and tried to hold herself upright but couldn't shake her eye lids closing. "Help- help him- p-please." She stuttered and her body fell slack.
And she fell into the open black.
