As the sun shone down on the two girls, they smiled in shock, continuing to realise where they were and who they were about to see. They gazed at the crowd around them of thousands of girls and boys dressed in there fan shirts and other items, all there to see the same people. Renae giggled hysterically and did a little dance – looked more like a fit – while April stood there laughing at the scene. They were really here - in England...in London…at Summer in the City. They couldn’t believe it. Dan, Phil, Chris, PJ, Alex, Carrie, Charlie, Jack, Dean, Tessa…they were all here somewhere.

“Renae, I don’t know if I can move any further,” April said, a smile ear to ear as she stood to Renae’s left, trying to take in her surroundings.

Renae laughed again and hugged April tightly. “I can’t believe it either, oh my God,” she said enthusiastically, letting go. “I haven’t even seen…him yet and I’m already dying in a pool of feels.” Renae’s emotions were so fragile she couldn’t even say his name.

April was about to say his name, knowing it would send Renae over the edge, when she saw them. She grabbed Renae’s left arm tightly. “You’re going to cut of the circulation of my bloooood!” Renae complained. She followed April’s line of sight and pulled April fingers of her arm before she broke out into another little dance. “THEY’RE. RIGHT. THERE.”

All April could do was nod before she realised tears were flowing. Renae started tugging her arm towards the incredibly handsome British boys not more than three metres in front of them. April wiped her face clean and took in a deep breath before they headed over.

Half way there, Renae squealed and collapsed to her knees, breaking April’s focus from the dark haired men. April gasped at the sudden movement and pulled Renae to her feet. “What? Did you see him?” Before Renae answered, April noticed a reasonably tall light-brown haired man standing about a ruler’s length away from Renae. It was him. April started nudging Renae towards him but Renae protested, too excited to know what to do. He was about to walk away when he noticed Renae’s strange behaviour and when he saw her shirt, a big teeth-filled grin covered his face.

“Hi, I’m Chris! You probably already know that, by the looks.” He held out his hand for a handshake but Renae just jumped onto him, latching onto his shoulders like a spider monkey. He let out a genuine yet shocked laugh and patted Renae’s back. “Nice to meet you, too!” he said, putting on a Scottish accent. Renae couldn’t handle it but with a bit of force, she managed to compose herself and let go of him. “What’s your name? I love your hair by the way.”

Renae giggled a little and blurted out, “Renae. Thanks! Can I have a photo with you?”

Chris laughed again. He really was in a laughing mood. “Sure! Come here.” He wrapped his arm firmly but comfortably around Renae’s shoulders and pulled her into his side for the photo. After April took the photo, which she delayed a few minutes to extend the half hug for Renae, Chris loosened his grip, leaning down to whisper “Remember to breathe. Breathing is good.” Renae managed a laugh and went in for another, less crazy, hug. Chris hugged back. They chatted for a while and Chris felt a strange connection with Renae. He decided to take a risk. “Hey Renae, you’re a pretty cool girl. Do you have a phone on you?” Renae nodded enthusiastically, trying but failing to keep calm. “Cool, I’ll type my number into your phone.” And as he did so, he continued to say, “If you want to catch up after this meet and greet, send me a text and we can go get a coffee or something.”

“I don’t like coffee,” Renae said with an airy snicker.

Chris laughed, melting Renae’s heart. “Okay, a milkshake then.” Chris glanced at April and added “You can come along, too, obviously! Hey, you like Dan and Phil? I’ll see if they want to come, too. How’s that sound?”

April smiled hugely and nodded. “That would be amazing! Actually, can I get a photo with you, too?” After getting the photo of April with Chris, Chris did a little salute and as he walked away to talk to some more fans, he said “See yah later!”
