It is purely my imagination and is not written to hurt the sentiments of anyone

It is a story based on Mahabharat an Indian mythology:

It's been 3 months since Pandavs have been reciding in Hastinapur.

Shankuni went to Gandharv two months back to meet his parents. He was going to return the next day.

Prince Duryodhan was roaming the castle with a lot of thoughts in his head, he came to a halt in front of the royal library, "Hmm... it's been a good while since I visited this place but really... can you fault me after all who likes to study" he said smiling.

Suddenly he saw someone he instantly recognised and the smile adorning his face died down and was instantly replaced with a scowl as the one standing in front of him was none other than Yamputra Yuddhistir.

Flashback begins

A woman was seen trying to wake a cute kid who was sleeping as if he had no care in the world. "Duryodhan wake up, come on its dawn" the kid who we now konw is Duryodhan the eldest Kaurav just tossed around mumbling to let him sleep some more.

"Are you sure because I remember you asking me to wake you up early today so that you can greet your cousin brothers on their arrival and prepare something for them, though for your kind information they have already arrived" the sleepy boy jumped out of his bed anow wide awake. "Mumma why didn't you wake me up earlier I am so late, Gods now what will they think, that how lazy their brother is, they might think so ill of me now."

Seeing his kiddo pouting and throwing a cute tantrum Gandhari chuckled and calmly said "They haven't arrived yet, don't worry I lied so that you would wake up and stop ovrethinking they won't think ill of you for such petty things".

"You scared me matashree" he said and then went away to prepare for his brothers' arrival and freshen up.

*After a while*

Duryodhan was standing near a window awaiting his cousins' arrival. He was going be a younger brother and experience what it feels like to be the younger brother and that to of two elder brothers, it would be an understatement to say he was beyond excited.

Just then Shakuni entered and questioned Duryodhan on seeing his excitement to which Duryodhan proudly answered telling him about the arrival of his cousins'.

Shakuni: "So what is to be so excited about"

Duryodhan: "Well they are coming here for the first time. I am going to meet them for the first time."

Shakuni: "You are such a naïve kid, they are not coming here for you, they are after that throne."

Duryodhan: "They can take it, I do not desire the throne"

Shakuni: "You think they will let you live peacefully after that. No, my dear son they will treat you as a burden and as soon as they are in power, they will exile you."

Duryodhan: "No they won't they are our brothers." tears brimmed in his eyes.

Shakuni: "Not by blood though, to them you would be equal to enemies whom they have to fight for the throne."

Duryodhan: "But we are family, what if they don't think of us like enemies, I am sure thy will be good."

Shakuni was getting angry with this stubborn and pure-hearted kid, somewhere within his heart guilt blossomed for his actions, he was spoiling something so pure but he reminded himself it was to avenge his sister and the anger returned threefold.

Shakuni: I have enough experience to say so, if you want believe me or not, but don't come crying to me later that how you should have believed, if not for yourself then think about your brothers".

Duryodhan had always respected uncle Shakuni for his intelligence and considered it to never be wrong. If what mamashree was saying was true then he wouldn't let his brother suffer at the hands of those pandavs he will fight with them, he was the rightful king of the throne anyway.

That was the begging of the long-lasting hatred between the pandavs and Kauravs, which will one day lead to a war that would be written down in history as one of the most dangerous was of the history.
