Dylan
                             - the loss -

Seven months. That's how far along Buck was when she miscarried. When she told Eddie over their call that night after putting Chris to sleep, he was obviously upset, but not like she was, not like she needed him to be. His reaction felt more like how you'd react to finding out a random extremely old celebrity died. He wasn't connected to Chris or Dylan at all, she knew it wasn't entirely his fault but she couldn't help  but be mad at him, even if she knew she shouldn't be because he was grieving a baby too.

Eddie did grieve, though, and he definitely cried. And even yelled at his commanding officer when he told him to 'man up and stop crying over that damn baby' cause that was his damn baby! His son! His blood! This was what made him request a discharge, his family needed him and he needed his family.

As soon as he walked through those doors and realised how heartbroken his wife understandably was, and just how big his little buddy Christopher was now, it finally tipped him over, finally seeing the three people (cause they always said Dylan was watching over them)  he finally fucking realised how much he missed and just how much he missed them.... How much he needed to see them, to know that Evan wasn't gonna try and do something stupid because he knew she thought losing Dylan was all her fault, which it wasn't, it was nobody's fault, just a devastating situation that everybody wanted to fix but they couldn't.

They had dedicated a small part of their house to be Dylans corner, with family photos, baby blankets and clothes, toys, anything that made them happy really.

Eventually, after realising that Christopher likes to sit bring his toys and books over there, they added a little toy chest and bookshelf, so that the two brothers could bond in any way possible.

Christopher would babble away to himself in that corner for hours, playing with his fire trucks and superman and Spider-Man toys (Evan loves DC, but Eddie knows Marvel is better), and when they get a Dalmatian puppy called Blaze, they put her bed over there so that the three amigos can nap together.
