A few minutes later, and the movie ended. This made me confused.

How long did Alonso and I play for?

Disregarding that thought, I grabbed the remote and paused the movie. I wasn't really interested in seeing the credits at the end.

"That movie is definitely on my top ten list! Kevin Hart is hilarious." Cheri exclaimed while getting off the couch.

I shrugged my shoulders, trying to add myself to the conversation, so I didn't look suspicious.

"I think it's just his facial expressions, really. But I agree, he is funny." I told her, to which she agreed.

Cheri turned on the light and looked at the two of us. I hoped we wouldn't come across as suspicious in any way, shape, or form. However, her eyes roamed on Alonso more than it landed on me.

She shrugged her shoulders and mumbled, "I didn't realize you were still here."

That immediately eased my worrisome. The attention was on him and not on me. Therefore, it was up to him to speak, and I was thankful.

"Well, by the way you were laughing, it seemed like you were in your own world." Alonso said with a chuckle, adding, "You didn't hear a thing."

My body immediately went ridged. It was like this whole thing was amusing to him.

Did he want Cheri to become suspicious? Or am I simply overthinking things? What is his motive?

"Oh," Cheri said with a small frown. "Did someone try to get my attention?" She asked inquisitively. Alonso nodded, and I mentally strangled him.

"Hm, not so much. Leona was simply staring at you; I'm shocked you weren't aware of it." He said, and I nudged him while laughing.

"Yeah. Every time you laughed, I was staring at you because it was so loud and funny." I smiled as I continued, thinking that this would look believable.

Surprisingly, Cheri joined in the laughter. She shook her head and exhaled a satisfied sigh. I was simply relieved that she didn't catch on to any of our lies.

"Man. Y'all should've recorded it." She shook her head again, adding to her famous dramatic affect. Cheri spoke up again before anyone else could reply, leaving me stunned.

"We should do this more often."

After that last sentence, Cheri began to clean up. She grabbed all of her trash and went into the kitchen to throw it away.

I used this time to spring up from the couch and fix my pants. Since I was wearing gray sweats, I was scared that I might've left a stain on my pants.

If I left a stain, Cheri would notice and would start asking questions. Questions I couldn't answer.

"Alonso," I whisper-yelled at him to catch his attention.

He hummed and stared up at me with amusement laced on his face. He crossed his legs and folded his hands, placing them on his lap.

I spun around and pointed at my covered bottom. "Are there any stains? Maybe a wet patch?" I questioned as I kept an eye on the hallway leading to the kitchen.

Alonso hummed. "I'm not sure. I don't have my glasses with me."

I turned around again, a look of annoyance on my face. Now was not the time to joke. I don't know how he could be so calm right now, as if nothing happened.

"Stop fucking around, Alonso." I glared at him, and he shrugged his shoulders.

"You look fine to me, darling." He said, which caused me to roll my eyes.
