It's 2024.
All of Stranger Things season 4 just released on Netflix. The final episode is drawing to a close. The entire group is together one final time. The original party, and all of the members who have joined since. Although it seems impossible, the evil has finally been defeated and closed off from the world for good. Although Hawkins is now safe, it will never feel safe for any of the people who have experienced the horrors of the upside down in Hawkins. So, everyone has resolved to split up. Well, byler shippers finally got the kiss they wanted so bad. Was it under stressful circumstances? Yes. Did it have disastrous consequences? Definitely. Will and Mike can barley be near each other. Almost no one else saw. Almost no one knows. But Mike and Will are always going to know. Mike doesn't know how to deal with the feelings he felt that day, so he does what he has always does with his feelings towards Will. He pushes them down. He avoids Will completely, and avoids thinking about Will. Because of this, Will thinks Mike hates him. Will is under the impression that Mike could never love him back, and that Mike is uncomfortable being around someone like Will. This hurts him more than he can bear, but if Mike is uncomfortable in his presence, he would do anything to make Mike happy. But despite their determination to stay apart, they must meet again for the big reunion. The big goodbye.
They must face each other, and they must face the truth. The truth Mike can't bring himself to process, and the truth Will believes is only an unrealistic  dream. Everyone meets up, has their fun, and says their goodbyes. When the afternoon is done and most of the others have cleared out, Dustin suggests the original four boys return to Mike's house, and Lucas agrees. Panic crosses Mike and Will's faces, and for a split second they make eye contact. In that moment they agree. Everything is normal. They both agree to go back to Mike's house and return to his basement, where they used to spend so much time when they where younger. It's late at night when Dustin, Will and Lucas decide to go home when suddenly, Mike gets a phone call and calls Will back down the stairs. Joyce just called to tell Will it would be better if he stayed overnight at Mike's house. Will agrees, and both boys sit down at opposite ends of the couch in Mike's basement, in silence. They both only have one all-consuming thought, and know the other one is thinking about the same exact thing. The kiss. Neither can speak. Neither can move. They both eventually fall asleep, Will on the couch and Mike in a sleeping bag on the floor below him. Not a word has been exchanged since Lucas and Dustin left. As Will falls asleep, one of his hands hangs down from the couch. Almost subconsciously, Mike reaches up to hold it in his. In that moment, he knows Will is the only person he can ever love like this. And he also know Will is the only one he will never be able to love like this. Tears start to stream out of his eyes. Although Mike will never know, Will too is silently sobbing. In this moment, the understanding is reached that they may never be happy together. That's it. They probably won't.

Ripping the band-aid off only caused more pain for both of them.

I kick my tv out of a fucking window.
