A loud pang! rang through the air, the clash of my iron bow to her cutlass splitting my eardrums with its sound.
"Just give up, Ophilian. You aren't going to win."
I held the sides of my bow tightly, trying to keep her blade away from me.
"I'm not surrendering until I avenge my father."
She smirked, "Well, I will not yield, either."
The goddess of light yanked her cutlass away, taking a swing at my leather armor and slicing through, shredding it.
The next attack, I attempted to deflect with my bow, but she managed to saw through the iron like it was wood.
My eyes widened as the gleam of her blade fell high above my head as I proceeded to roll to the side to deflect her attack.
She raised an eyebrow before she spun me against her chest and pinned me to the ground, her knee on my back.
"I'm impressed by your strength, kid. To fight a god as well as you did, somebody should give you a cape or something to honor it."
Her hand lifted above her head, ready to stab me as I felt tears pool up in my eyes.
This was how my life was to end. The same way my father left this world: Being stabbed to death by Astronimbus, the light goddess.
I screwed my eyes shut, preparing for that silver blade to impale me right through my damaged armor.
Though, she stopped, lowering the blade as I opened my eyes again. Her face was still stern, her two-colored eyes staring into mine. I saw a memory shine through her golden one, though her silver eye remained empty.
"You know what, Ophilian? I think it'd be best if I let you die slowly other than quickly. I want you to suffer, not have things end with one single stab."
Her long hair tickled my side as she spread my white wings clipping and ripping out a few of the feathers, stabbing the muscle, my screams echoing through the sky.
Her deep, brown-skinned hand later dug under my chest-plate, her knuckles embedding themself into my spine as she pulled me up off the ground, bringing me to the edge of the cloud in which we fought.
Astro leaned me to look at the ground far below, my heart dropping as I felt her fingers loosen around my chest plate.
She turned me around, cooing, "Bye, Ophilian, I hope you have a nice fall" before shoving me towards the ground, the golden shimmer of the forcefield that protects Cloud Koria slowly rolling over my body.
My descent felt slow, though I knew it was not. The goddess above me turned on her heel, flipping that large braid behind her as the low light of the sun illuminated her white hair.
I saw blood rush up from my wings, coating the pure white with a deep red. Tears rolled off my face as I knew this was to be my true end.
It disappoints me to believe that I am only fifteen, still a teenager, faced with their final moments before their body hits the ground and everything stops.
To think all I was possibly trying to do was avenge my father, only to end up joining him in the afterlife.
I was breathless, feeling the urge to cough, though I could not. My head felt like it was being torn in half, and for a moment, I didn't think I was in any danger.
I looked up at my hands, seeing my fingernails a brown-tinted blue, almost purple. Though, I knew it couldn't be helped.
I tried to figure out what was happening, but nothing came to mind.
