She takes entirely too long at the airport flower shop, moving from bouquet to bouquet, looking for the right one. Though Son Chaeyoung isn't usually indecisive she wants the flowers to be perfect.
She wants everything to be perfect it's a special day after all. It's not every day you get to meet the girl of your dreams for the first time.
And she's been waiting for this day for so very long, almost 9 months.
The florist grins as he wraps the stems in paper. "Special lady?"he asks and Chaeyoung couldn't resist pulling out her phone to show the older man the picture that had been texted to her last night.
"She's a beauty" The florist says and Chaeyoung nods enthusiastically she couldn't agree more.
Chaeyoung has already memorized every pixel of the photo, traced every curve and line with her eyes. Thick, jet-black hair, smooth rich lily white-tinted skin, bubbly cheeks, lips puckered in just a hint of a pout and a mole below.
She's the most gorgeous, adorable thing Chaeyoung has ever seen. She's absolutely head over heels in love with her and they haven't even met in person yet.
But today is finally the day.
Chaeyoung pays for the flowers, white daises and red roses, then she heads out into the dawn. Though tired from a long business trip, her steps are brisk as she walks to the taxi stand, humming happily and slightly off-tune.
They'd been planning this day forever, had set a date months ago but mysterious lady's eagerness align with her last-minute business trip and now she was hurtling from the airport to a downtown campus, too excited and too nervous to even notice her surroundings.
The building looms above her, modern steel and glass, brightly lit. The special lady was on the sixth floor, she rushes through the polished lobby and presses the elevator button repeatedly, nerves superseding common sense. The upward ride seems to take forever, her palms sweat and her breathing quickens. Excitement battles with apprehension. Will she like me? Will I be good enough for her?
She walks the long hallway with a hushed reverence, knowing she's approaching a meeting that will forever change her life.
The door is slightly ajar and Chaeyoung pauses on the threshold, drinking her in. She's staring out the window, bathed in the golden glow of the rising sun, fine bone structure silhouetted against the glass. Her long black hair falls in a sleek curtain halfway down her back, toned calves peek out from under the hem of her pale blue gown.
She takes her breath away.
"Mina?" Chaeyoung whispers and the mentioned woman turns to her direction a soft smile tugging at those lush peach lips.
"Chaeyoung." Her lips form Chaeyoung's name almost soundlessly, only the barest puff of air carrying the syllable.
In a dozen silent steps Mina crosses the room, throwing her arms around Chaeyoung's neck, her warm, soft body presses to hers.
Chaeyoung sighs, the tension she has carried for a day and a half melting in the cozy warmth of Mina's embrace. She pulls Mina's tight and buries her face in Mina's shoulder
"You're here." Mina murmurs, her fingers brushing Chaeyoung's hair, her short tresses had gotten long indicating the journey she had.
"I'm sorry I couldn't get here sooner." Chaeyoung's words are coloured with sadness, with regret.
Mina pulls back, smiling softly and reaches out her hands to cup Chaeyoung's face, fingers brushing her lover's cheeks.
"You're here now that's all that matters."
"These are for you, flowers for my girl" Chaeyoung blushes suddenly shy, and presses the flowers into Mina's arms.
Mina's gorgeous chocolate brown eyes light up in pleasure, red tint also painting her cheeks.
Chaeyoung smiles as Mina buries her nose among the blooms.
"Thank you" Mina whispers, grasping Chaeyoung's hand, she leads her across the spacious room to the bed.
Chaeyoung swallows hard as Mina sets the flowers aside and encourages her to perch on the edge of the mattress, standing between her knees and ask. "Are you ready?"
Chaeyoung nods and Mina smiles, stepping away from her, reaching into a tall wheeled cart beside the bed.
Chaeyoung's heart pounds so hard she's worried it'll seize, worried she'll faint even before the big moment arrives but she doesn't and then Mina is setting "her" in her arms, tiny, warm and surprisingly solid.
"Her" Their daughter.
Tears blur Chaeyoung's vision as she gazes upon the face she has been imagining, dreaming of and sketching a thousand times, peeking out of a striped blanket. She reaches a shaky finger out to stroke the baby's cheek, her skin the softest velvet.
The baby's tiny brows furrow at Chaeyoung's gentle touch and she laughs, startling the sleeping sweet bean.
When the baby's eyes squint trying to open it Chaeyoung laughs again, the shining orbs peeks that regard her with suspicion reminding Chaeyoung so strongly of the infant's other mother.
"So what do you think love?" Mina breathes, settling beside Chaeyoung.
"She's even more beautiful than the pictures you sent" Chaeyoung says, unable to drag her eyes away from the six pounds of perfection cradled against her.
"I can't believe I missed her birth, her due date was supposed to be two weeks away and the labour had been fasta Chaeyoung sniffs
Though Chaeyoung rushed as soon as she got the call, baby Myoui-Son made her exit before she had even gotten to the airport.
Still feeling guilty missing an important moment Chaeyoung had caught a red-eye home, unwilling to miss even a minute more than she had to. Her eyes well up again staring at their daughter.
"Shh don't cry, you're home now we're together." Mina leans against Chaeyoung's shoulder soothing her.
Together, her family, Chaeyoung smiles a dimpled one, wrapping an arm around Mina holding the two most important girls in her life close.
"I wouldn't let anyone else come visit I wanted you to meet her first." Mina says rubbing Chaeyoung's arm.
They sit in silence, gazing upon the tangible proof of their love. Their tiny, perfect child. The girl of their dreams.
