Karan's POV

Oh God! Where the hell did this girl disappear? I was looking for her for more than half an hour and she was nowhere to be found. We all had our dinner together an hour ago and after that she just vanished.

We both decided to meet exactly at 11PM and it was 11:25, still she didn't come. I was trying to call her, the phone kept on ringing but she didn't pick up. Finally I decided to go and sit at the place where we decided to meet.

And there she was, sitting near the pool with her feet dipped into the water. I went and sat beside her and she waved at me.

"Where were you? I have been looking for you for the last half an hour." I said rolling up my jeans and dipping my feet into the water.

"Fuck.. it's so cold." I pulled them out immediately and she chuckled.

"Relax, it's just water." She said keeping her hand on mine and gestured me to put them into the water again.

I looked at her being unsure and she said, "It will get normal in some time."

"Okay, if you say so." I replied.

"When did you come here? And where is your phone?" I asked but she was too busy in gazing at the water in front of us that she didn't find it important to answer my questions.

"Laddoo.." I said a little loudly and she looked at me being irritated. "What?"

"I'm talking to you. Where are you lost?" I was a little pissed with her behaviour. Firstly, she didn't tell me that she had already reached there. Second, she didn't pick my calls. And then she wasn't ready to utter a word when we were together.

"Ya, I'm listening. I came here few minutes ago and I left my phone in the room itself." She replied without looking at me and I nodded.

Her eyes were fixed on the water but she wasn't looking at anywhere particularly, which meant she was thinking about something for sure. I continued staring at her but that didn't matter to her at that moment. I wonder what was cooking inside her brain?

I was looking at her intently, praising her perfect facial features. I found her hair tied in a bun and my fingers automatically worked on her rubber band, letting her long treeses fall on her back. She smiled but didn't turn her face.

I observed an unusual glow on her face, under the moon light and said while playing with her hair "You look different."

She looked at me in confusion and asked, "Why?"

"I don't know. You're glowing." I replied honestly and she chuckled.

"What were you thinking." I asked pulling her towards myself and she rested her head on my shoulder.

She replied looking at me finally, "Us."

"Us? What about us?" I asked, kissing the top of her head.

"We are getting engaged tomorrow Sunny. You know what...umm... How do I explain now.. One side I'm happy or I should say I'm on cloud nine as we are finally getting engaged. But on the flip side, I'm scared. What if I won't be able to fulfill my responsibilities towards both the families? Towards you? Towards us? What if I fail to give my hundred percent to my work or to our relationship. What if we fall apart...." I was listening to her rant patiently until her last statement. I looked at her and she stopped after realising what she said.

"I.. I didn't mean.. I just.. I'm just..." She tried to form a sentence but failed.

"You're just scared. That's it." I replied.

"Ya, I am and I can't help it." She said with a pout.

I smiled at her reply and she narrowed her eyes at me. "Stop smiling like an idiot."
