The BSAA was always a dream job for you. Whether you were a combat medic on the side or an officer on the front lines, you didn't care! All you wanted was for an opportunity to work with the best of the best. Luckily for you, you had a friend in the BSAA already who promised to do his best to help get you in.

You and Piers Nivans had been friends since middle school. You remember being drawn in by his adorable smile and caring personality. Looking back, Piers was probably drawn to you for the same reasons. Whenever you were with him, you always felt as if he had your back and would protect you at all costs. You could remember many times when some junior or senior jerks tried to harass you but were always scared off by the 5'9" freshman. The two of you were as thick as thieves back then, and nothing much has changed since. Sure, you guys were much busier now that you were adults, but, Piers always found the time to call while away on duty. It was during one of these calls, in fact, that Piers brought up this very opportunity.

"I really don't know," you said to Piers through the receiver. "Isn't the training just for the interview, like, super ruthless?"

"You got me there, (Y/N)." Piers replied through slight static. "But, after that, it's almost no problem getting an interview!" You could tell he was smiling at the other end of the line.

"Yeah, the interview. And then you have to pass the interview. And then you have to go through even more screenings just to make sure you're the perfect candidate for some, like, dumb drone pilot." You replied, half sarcastically.

You were not very optimistic about this at all. Despite wanting to join Piers in the BSAA, you knew how relentless and difficult it is to actually get in. It just seemed like too much extra effort for too big of a risk in your already busy schedule.

"Hey, drone piloting takes a lot of work and practice!" Piers responded playfully. You rolled your eyes with a smile. "Besides, I know that your talents can definitely be helpful on the front lines. Listen, (Y/N), I know a way I can get you in - guaranteed! You just have to trust me." You let out a soft sigh and decided, 'why not?'. Besides, even if you don't get in, it would be worth it just to see Piers again.

"All right. I trust you. But if it turns out I took a week off of work for nothing, you owe me one!" Hearing Piers's laughter and celebratory 'whoops' brought a bright smile to your face.

"Awesome! I'll text you later tomorrow with more info after I talk to Chris about this." His smile leaked into his voice and through the phone. "It'll be great seeing you, (Y/N). I really can't wait." As you both exchanged your goodbyes, you began to anticipate your upcoming week.

Almost immediately after hanging up, you promptly called the next two weeks off of work - just to be safe. You weren't entirely sure what the pre-interview training would be like, but you knew it was going to be hell. You began pulling out all your old at-home workout gear from your closet. A gym membership suited you just fine for a few years but it was moments like these you were thankful for hoarding all that old equipment. A good warm up routine and some simple weight lifting would be a good start before bed. It'll be just the thing to make you sleepy and excited enough for the next day. Time to get to work!

The next morning, your phone buzzed, causing you to wake up with the birds. Thinking it odd that your 8:30 alarm didn't ring, you immediately checked your phone. Unfortunately, it was 6:00 and you weren't able to sleep in. Go figure that on the first day of your "vacation" you wake up even earlier than usual. However, all your feelings of annoyance were thrown away when you saw that it was a short text from Piers that awoke you.

"Guess who got you a priority interview with no pre-training? :)" -P

You let out a small but audible gasp upon reading the message. Every single BSAA tryout has to go through the pre-interview training. It's the main part of being in the BSAA, really. You don't know how he did it but this saved you so much effort and anxiety. You quickly replied:
