What Tommy hadn't realised when he decided to save that poor woman with a gun to her head from dying in that dirty alleyway, is the effect it would have on him.
The accomplishment felt from pulling someone out of lady deaths hand cannot be topped by anything. No, not even boobs pancakes that he makes the two of them in the gray mornings when they awake tangled together on their shared bed.
He really hadn't meant to get involved in the whole illegal hero business, he just ran in and that's when he found his passion in life.
He hadn't meant to save the man who was dressed in all blue for some reason from getting robbed or the little girl who was literally the cutest thing that was trapped in the endless mazes of alleyways in their city to find her fathers again, he just did it.
What was he supposed to do? NOT do anything at all? That didn't sound very heroic. The swell of contributing to stopping the crimes that powered the outer city called to him. He really really liked it. helping people, that is.
It wasn't like the real heroes were helping anyone, so what was the harm in him doing it?
From there it just kinda became his thing, yknow?
Soon enough the people of the area knew and trusted him well enough.
Protector of the outskirts was the name gifted to him by his people, his alias only spread from there. He was just a red blur stopping crime in the night, it was very pog.
It didn't take long for Ranboo to find out, they live together after all.
After enough times of Tommy sneaking out (Ranboo never said anything, but they both knew they knew) and the news of a shiny new vigilante out on the streets, it didn't take long to piece together what was happening.
That's when the protector's new partner came onto the scene. Abyss.
The pair of vigilantes were unstoppable, at least to the low-level criminals of the outskirts.
Protector with his power to change the gravity of anything he desires and abyss always there to come in with their all-consuming void to get the other out of any trouble (he seemed to always be in trouble for some reason)But for some reason whenever something good actually happens to Tommy, there always has to be something to bring him back down.
The heroes only ever seem to save people living inner-city. Tommy's only sixteen, but never once has he seen any heroes in the outskirts.
Which is why it was such a lovely surprise one night (while he was vigilante-ing around on the rooftops, of course) when suddenly there was.
The SBI, all three 10-ranked heroes.
Being a hero always seemed very busy to Tommy. All the saving, and the paperwork and dodging media outside of hero work.
He just couldn't understand why they took time out of their oh so busy schedules to try and arrest one of the only people actually bringing the crime rates down in the outskirts.
But Tommy's only ever had a Highschool education, so what would he know?
As he sees it, his only two options are to somehow call Ranboo and have them pluck him out of the situation.
Or outrun the SBI.
