A few hours later, I stood dressed in a beautiful white crop top, white ripped jeans, with a white headband keeping back my mousy brown hair. I had white sneakers on, with white laces.
"You look so pretty!" Emma smiled as I hugged her.
I looked down at my clothes, which sparkled in the morning sunlight. "Why am I dressed in all white?"
"You'll see when you get Tested." Emma said, walking to the door. "When you're done getting ready, come down to the courtyard, ok?"
"Ok!"
"I am so proud of you!" Emma smiled as I walked towards the door.
"Where are you going?"
"I have to leave until you get tested. It's a rule."
"Ok." I sighed as Emma slipped out of the door. When there was no more trace of her, I got up and walked over to my vanity in my dorm, and sat down.
I dabbed blush on my cheeks, put on mascara, a little green eyeshadow, and tied a forest green ribbon around my styled hair.
I had put my hair in a beautiful twist with studded diamonds dotting it. I had two strands framing my heart shaped face, making my golden eyes really stand out.
I finally got up and looked around. I think I should go down stairs, after all, they didn't tell me I couldn't!" I walked over and walked slowly down the stairs, sliding my hand down the stairs railing, but jumped back with a yelp.
"Ouch!"
How did that shock me? I held up my hand in wonder, staring in shock at the little bolts of energy that ran between my fingers. How... Oh my gosh... I pointed at my glass brush and focused. I sensed a deep power inside my core. I imagined myself gathering that all up in my arms and thrusting it out of my body. A thin line of electricity shot out of my palm and struck my brush. I could feel the energy building and building, beaming like a bright beacon of light.
Then it exploded.
I threw up my hands and pulsed, bracing for sharp edges to come cutting into my flesh. After a few seconds, I looked up. The glass was laying in a semicircle, looking like it had been blasted away from me, which it probably had, to be honest. I picked up two of the larger pieces, they were gowing very faintly to my vision, and focused.
I wonder...
The energy slowly leached away from the shards and entered my hands, lighting them up slightly.
Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap. A million different things were racing in my brain as I stared dumbfounded at my hands.
What is wrong with me?
Someone knocked on the door. "Kali? Are you okay? It's time for your desi-'' Emma stared at the glass, apparently not seeing the glow in my hands. "What happened here? Oh my gosh are you okay?" She ran over and grabbed my hands. "Your hands are hot, do you have a fever?"
"No! I'm just nervous. I accidentally knocked over my brush..." I trailed off, realizing how unbelievable that sounded.
Emma raised an eyebrow, but relented, walking over. "Come on, It's time to go."
I stood up, stunned that I didn't question. I looked down at my hands, and saw the same faint glow. I summed up my courage and asked "Do my hands look odd to you?"
Emma glanced down. "No. They look perfectly normal. Why?"
I shrugged, and walked to the doorway. "Where are we supposed to go?"
