Being the peace keeper of the family is a tough job, especially if it's trying to keep a family with a (I apologize for my language) loner asshole that does nothing but make everyone miserable, an extrovert that acts a tad self centered, and an adult that, to be honest, can't keep them under control.
But they're still my family, and I love them to pieces, even if we sometimes don't act that way.

The walk to school was awkward and filled with tension, even when I tried to coax them into conversation.

" Um, Danny, what do you have planned for highschool?" I asked him nervously.

He glared at me with those piercing mismatched blue and brown eyes of his, and I promptly looked away. (Danny could be REALLY scary when he wants to).

I decided to lose my self in the London scenery instead, walking through the flood of people going to work or school, in the city backdrop around them, mixed in with centuries of history.

We arrived at the gates of our school along with an inflow of students, all looking sharp for the first day.

Reinwich Prep was the best private school out there; it's boarding facilities alone were the sizes of small houses.
The gates were tall, sleek and black, decorated with climbing vines, and the top branding the school logo and mantra; Docti Potentes, a Latin statement I still don't know its meaning.

It was the complete definition of fancy.

The school had seperated itself into two; junior high (Years 7, 8 and 9), in a the first building, and senior high, where we were starting (Years 10, 11 and 12), a different building connected to the junior high by a glass bridge on the second floor.

By the time I was inside the second building, I had lost both Darren and Danny in the crowd of noisy teenagers.
I pushed through the crowd, in search of my locker, sure I'd find them later.

"Darryl! Hey." I felt my face flush instantly as the familiar, but slightly deeper voice of my best friend called out to me.

I saw his grinning face and sunny blonde hair Bob over the sea of heads as he headed towards me.

He'd gone to Hawaii for the summer, and looked more like a California boy with his tanned skin, and dazzling smile.

If you hadn't noticed already, I have an agonizing crush on him, and I don't think it's going anytime soon.

Hoped you like the story.
