"Yes, that would be me." I told him and he gestures that l get in and l told him l would rather not as l am in a rush to pick up my brother from school.
"Okay then, make sure you hurry up on deciding to come here or not our mission is up in four weeks," he winks at me and l smile slightly.
After our talk he accompanied me to the gate and we exchanged our cell numbers as well as our goodbyes.
I promptly went to pick up Josh from school and luckily l was just in time because the bell rang as soon as l got to the school gate.
We went for ice-cream before we headed home and Josh told me all about school and how he was chosen to represent the school for their Quiz club.
"I am so proud of you Joshy," l tell him grabbing him into a bear hug. And he smiles into the hug.
"Even mom and dad are proud of you too,'' he smiles.
It feels a bit better to be able to talk about our parents without bursting into tears or feeling so pained.
We have come to accept that its just us now, us against the world.
We later head home for supper. After a week of asking mom and dad what to do about the offer I finally came to a decision that l would join.
I told Josh about it and he was scared at first but he later encouraged me to do it saying it might be what our parents wanted.
Josh had been preparing for his upcoming Quiz competition when l got into his room.
"Don't you ever get tired of reading; l mean l would obviously, l was never a fan of reading." I say to Josh and he laughs.
"I remember this time when mom would drag you to your room to study, you were always a natural sis." He says and later adds, "You always exceled even though you didn't read."We both laugh our lungs out and he tells me what he is reading about.
He takes out his flash cards with questions and hands them to me to help him with them.We have a question and answer rally until l get tired of him knowing literarily everything and we eventually come to a stop after he persuades me to finish all the flash cards.
He packs his books into his bag pack and puts everything in order before we sit on his bed. "Smart freak," I say to myself referring to Josh.
After a while of comfortable silence Josh breaks the ice.
"Why is John not coming to see you anymore, did you have a fight?" he asks me and l don't even have the answer to that, even l don't know what happened to us.He never calls or texts, even Will is also unreachable and its been a long time he is the one who used to update me on what was going on.
That's what people who have a lot on their plate do they don't have time for everyone they only have time for people in their class. I am really grateful for what he did for me and Josh its time we had gone our separate ways anyway.
Why else would he want to see me, he paid everything for us and we are all in good shape he has nothing to come see us for.
"No, we did not have a fight we just went our separate ways. He has a lot of things to do other than coming to see me. He is a CEO for a very huge company so he has a lot to take care of." I say to Josh slightly smiling so that he won't see that l am also sad about it.
"l miss him,'' Josh says and l just nod my head.
"I know you do, anyway enough about John." I sigh staring into space.
K
"You like him so why are you not sad he isn't coming anymore.'' Josh being the one who also saw through me just had to ask but how could l tell him how l felt about John it will just make both of us even more sad and besides the void l feel will soon be filled with work.I slightly laugh at his statement before telling him that l did not like him l was just grateful for everything; he has done for both of us.
"Liar.'' He said and quickly dismissed the story.
