Dr. Wakefield found himself at the bottom of the Leidcend crypt, where he found many notes spread around and coffins filling a few of the niches carved into the wall, with some of the notes lying on said coffins and on the ground, lying in heaps, or spread out from the others. The whole place was a mess to put it bluntly, probably because no one had ever thought to come down there before he had, aside from Brighid herself.
No one would even dare think of it, as this was the place rumoured to have the crooked one dwelling
within, that which hid evil within itself,
the sentinel, the guardian of the Other Side.
Wakefield looked at the coffins, making careful note of almost each and every one, before his eyes fell upon the one in the middle.
"I wonder...what could have happened here that Brighid would set her old Aunt's place ablaze?" He asked. "What did her Aunty do to make her commit such an act?"
The doctor approached and looked at the note on the coffin.
"Down in this unholy burrow, in the feared Cronemeadan, our worst nightmares crawl and die.

"Resting down here are the dauntless, those who dared enter the lair of the snake and the bird."

"Each of those men and women crossed the Path Between. They walked through the mist to the Other Side, where the ultimate truth screams in terror...then they returned.
These are my ancestors, the proud Laidcend family, reduced to something far worse than bones or ashes. That abomination in the coffin cannot be my Aunt Maire's legacy! No! I will not accept this for myself!"

Wakefield looked down at the coffin's plaque and could barely make out the name engraved on it.
"Maire Laidcend".
With two hands, he pushed the heavy lid off the coffin and peered inside to reveal the horror within. Those who came back from the Other Side, became beings of horrible formations.
He backed away slowly from the coffin and was about to run, when he heard the sound of stone sliding across dirt from above and saw that the hole was being covered by something large.
"Hey! Hey!"
Wakefield shouted, but it was too late. He was trapped within total darkness.

Seekers of truth will sacrifice their wisdom.

So to open the way to where the fearnóg blooms.

Your offspring we welcome, its hidden threat.

Only the light of your sign will carry its purge.

Wakefield found himself in a long dark tunnel, the Laidcend crypt nowhere to be seen. He walked forward, the tunnel getting foggier and foggier with each step, until nothing but fog could be seen throughout the entire space.
Wakefield soon began passing by shadows of creatures, a fox, a badger, an anteater, a bull, a wolf, a deer and some other monstrous form that he could not make out. Wakefield continued on without looking too long at the marsh dwellers, before he moved through a dark area. He felt eyes bore into him from every which way, gazing at him with a pure darkness within, but he didn't dare look. He kept onwards.

Soon Wakefield found himself on a large barren desert, walking still before he saw something in the distance. He walked towards it and saw a hooded figure standing there.
"Excuse me...could you help me?" Asked Wakefield. The figure turned with a start, before relaxing a little.
He wore an eyeless mask, the same kind that was back at Alexandre's safe house.
"I'm Dr. Wakefield, I'm looking for a patient of mine. Jeremiah Devitt?"
At the name of Devitt, the figure perked up. "Oh, him? He...well, he left this place a while ago. He decided to go to mount Qaf. He...he's going to put an end to it all, he said." Said the figure. "What?! Why?" Asked Wakefield. "To save this world from its grasp, he's going to learn the Final Word and save everyone." Said the figure. "He's going to...." Wakefield trailed off. He figured Devitt was probably going to close the door and sacrifice himself for everything that he and his friends had done, accepting the consequences.
"Yeah and it's about time too." Said the figure.
"Please...sir...ummm..."
"Kion." Said the being.
"Ky...on...okay. Please Kion, could you take me to Devitt?" Asked Wakefield. "Certainly. But we must hurry. Time is of the essence." Said Kion.
The two walked.
