Koa, vassal of the Rainbow Serpent, was not for this today.
He was never for it, 2 powerful casters using his body to fight over his soul.
But he was especially now for it now, during a council meeting deciding if he should be allowed to stay in Nova Australis.
The meeting had started with discussion of the recent lack of crop production.
Farmers' crops had been found choked out by weeds that mysteriously appeared over night.
The problem hadn't been settles as Jir had stirred them to the ticking time bomb in their mist: Koa.
The Trips, as Koa had learned were Derel's younger Kulipari siblings, stood guard around him. But not to protect him.
To protect everyone else. Since arriving 2 weeks ago, 3 other battles for his soul had taken place. No one had been seriously harmed...yet.
But that could easily change.
"Koa is important and we must protect him for the good of all of the Outback." Jir began. "But is it really safe for him to stay here. He's destroyed the market place 3 times."
"Where else can he go. Every warlord and opportunist in the Outback is looking for Koa." Darel argued.
Koa's father put a supportive hand on his shoulder.
Burnu stepped forward. "And Koa's Kulipari, and we Kulipari stick together."
As if to back this up, Tipi gave the dreamcaster a warm smile.
"I am not saying we leave him to fend for himself. I simply suggest we move him away from the village." Jir defended.
"I believe we have a bigger issue at hand with the crops," Yabber protested. "There is an endgame to this starvation and famine. I have seen that--"
"You see, even nature is against you little frogs and your friends."
Jarrah's voice echoed in the dream world. Koa couldn't control it anymore, his travel through the worlds.
The Spider Queen and Turtle King decided for him.
He knew that back in the living world, he was glowing, and most likely floating.
He distantly heard someone call his name.
Only I can help you save those you care about. Don't you want to save them. Or has your time in Carnival made you as unfeeling as Darkan.
"I AM NOTHING LIKE DARKAN!"
The monster who had attacked his home and taken him away from his family.
Do not listen to her Koa or fall prey to her web. You know who you are.
Koa defiantly preferred speaking to Sergu. But he defiantly hated anyone fighting over his soul, even if the late Turtle King was trying to help him.
Another distant cry of his name.
You can never protect anyone without my help! Know that if you don't listen to be, the blood of Nova Australis and all you love will be on your hands.
"I WON'T LET ANYONE GET HURT!"
"KOA!" He recognized that as his dad.
Suddenly, the music of his Dijjery doo, played badly, began to center him. As Koa came back to himself, Sergu left some parting words.
Do not fear Koa. They are here.
Koa blinked awake, looking around the council chamber.
There was no sign of destruction or injury. For one, his inner struggle for hus soul had stayed that way--inside.
"Koa, are you okay?" Darel held his dijjery doo.
Koa nodded slowly, his father holding his arm tight.
"But I doubt he'll be so for long." A voice said from the entrance of the tent.
There stood half a dozen beings, carrying weapons. Three were Frogs, one was a Scorpion, and last was a Spider.
They had arrived.
