October 8th 2:45pm
Olivia woke with a start, she lunged awake managing to fall out of the bed. Almost instantly she regretted moving her head so fast. Her head was throbbing and causing waves of nausea to wash over her. Dragging her stiff body from the floor she shuffled into the bathroom absently. After a few minutes of moving about the tiny bathroom she clambered out the door slamming behind her. David opened the bedroom door without even knocking and nearly scared Olivia out of the towel that was wrapped around her chest, a toothbrush sticking out of her mouth as she stared at him with a shocked expression.
“Don’t you people ever knock!!” she squealed and tossed whatever was within grasp at him. David pulled the door closed right as the flying object smashed against the door. He opened the door a crack, poking his head through to see if it was safe.
“Get out!” she screamed again, this time she grabbed a lamp and threatened to throw that to. David’s eyes widened briefly as he slammed the door closed once more.
“Sorry, sorry!!” he yelled through the wooden shield. Man, for an eight year old she has good aim… he thought as he waited for Olivia’s signal for a safe entrance. He stepped into the room with averted eyes but could feel Olivia glaring at him from the bed which made him look up. The guard simply shrugged. It had only been two days since his sudden personality change and already he felt like he was floating on clouds. He also felt like a stranger in his own skin for being so cheery. The eight year had somehow managed to make his caged feelings turn into a whole mess of foreign emotions. He sighed silently to himself feeling like he was turning into a girl.
“You could have knocked ya know!” Olivia shouted making the pounding in her head increase. David saw the faint cringe and came over to sit next to her on the bed.
“You ok?” He said letting a hint of worry trickle into his voice.
“No. How long have I been asleep?” she said gritting her teeth.
“Two days…” she jerked her head up in surprise.
“Two days?! Why didn’t anyone wake me?” David looked at her blankly.
“We tried…you were power…recharging or something.” He said with a shrugged. “Plus a bull horn wouldn’t have woken you. You were sleeping like the dead.” He added, letting a grin slip onto his face. Olivia was looking down at his arm finally noticing the cast that stretched past his elbow.
“I’m sorry.” She said a little sadly, her voice trailing off. David put his good hand on her shoulder reassuringly.
“No, it’s ok. It wasn’t your fault. I was the one who fought that moron.” He said with a little chuckle. Olivia forced a smile onto her face.
“I wish I could do something.” She felt a slight twinge in her mind.
“You can do something, master.” Melrath’s unmistakable voice echoed in her mind. Olivia’s body stiffened at the appearance of the voice. She looked around the room as if trying to find it, spotting the sword leaning against the nightstand in a scabbard.
“What is it?” David asked having noticed the alert look on her face. In response Olivia shook her head slightly.
“It’s Melrath, he’s talking again.” David’s eyebrow shot up.
