Y/n walked in to the sight of a redhead girl, laying down on her bed and facing the ceiling. She looked so lost in her thoughts. In the corner of her eye, she saw y/n and slowly sat up. "Hi..." y/n says nervously. "Hey."

There is an awkward silence as they both stared at eachother. Y/n quickly turned around and started unpacking. Their beds were both at corners of the room, but Ziggy claimed the one further from the door.

In attempt to avoid small talk y/n took as long as she could, but could feel Ziggy's intense stare even though she wasn't facing her. Y/n thought she was judging her. As the unpacking finally came to an end, Ziggy initiated conversation.

"Just so you know," y/n turned around, "My name's-"
"Ziggy?" y/n interrupts.
"Yeah... Ziggy Berman. How'd you know?"
"Um.. the counsellor book thing."
"Right. And what's your name?"
"Oh yeah, I'm y/n!"

"Are you... a Shadysider?"
"Uhhh, I live in Sunnyvale." Her face changed at those words. Confused, y/n asks,
"Does that make a difference? I moved here recently."
"Oh, recently? Hmm... Maybe you might not be as bad as the others then."
Y/n doesn't understand what Ziggy means by this but makes the assumption that 'Sunnyvalers' and 'Shadysiders' must be in some kind of rivalry.
"Thanks, I guess."

Ziggy stands up and starts walking to y/n, eyeing her up and down. As she edges closer, y/n can't help but look elsewhere. Usually, she was good at eye contact but the one between her and Ziggy was... different.

Y/n looked up to see an outstretched hand. She took it and they gazed at eachother for a few seconds. They were very long seconds and after a while y/n finally realised that it was a handshake. They both giggled shyly.
"Friends?" she asks.
"Yeah, sure!"
"Cool! This is your first time here?"
"Yep! I was dumped here."

"I'll have to show you around then won't I?" she smirked.
