Grim and Yulia did in fact clean from Mainstreet to the Library just as Dire Crowley had instructed. By the time they were done however, it seemed that school had let out which meant that they had to meet up with Ace to clean 100 windows. Tiredly, they made their way over to the Cafeteria.
"Cleaning, cleaning, and more cleaning! Just knowing that Ace got to go to class really pisses me off, ya know! I'd be a much better student than him!" Grim sat down on the long wooden table and pouted.
"Mhm, sure." Yulia muttered half-listening. Instead she was gazing up at the great big chandelier. It was beautiful and it felt warm although it did have a chaotic feel to it with how it sort of branched out, lights strewn about shining brilliantly. It was like stars.
"Are you even listening?!" Grim shouted, the echo of his voice in the large and empty cafeteria caught Yulia attention.
"Wha-? Oh, yeah cleaning."
"No!" Grim hopped up and slapped the rag out of Yulia's hand. "That dummy, Ace, isn't here yet! We aren't cleaning a single window until he gets here!"
"I guess that's fair..." Yulia honestly just wanted to be done, and she didn't really care if Ace showed up or not. His presence would probably just agitate Grim and they'd get into a fight again. "Let's wait for a bit, then. I need a break anyway."
Yulia sat down at one of the tables nearest to the entrance. She then realized how tired she was. A wave of exhaustion came over her, and her body felt like lead. She was starting to think that Ace's help would be for the best after all. Just cleaning 2 windows sounded dreadful right now.
A distant sound piqued her interest. The sound of footsteps, slowly approaching, lifted Yulia's spirits. He came after all.
Yulia's relief was short-lived, however, as she peeked outside the cafeteria doors. It wasn't Ace, instead it was two people she'd never seen before. She quickly retreated back into the cafeteria, not wanting to be seen. The brief glance at them was enough to tell Yulia that they weren't students. She guessed that they were teachers. One looked a little old and the other had a very interesting black and white outfit on. Yulia wanted a closer look but she didn't want them to notice her. She quietly walked back over to the table.
Minute after minute passed by. No sign of Ace. Just as Yulia had stood up to start cleaning the windows without him, Grim suddenly shouted. "It's been too long! Where is he?!"
Yulia sighed, "he skipped out, it's what those kinds of people do, Grim."
"That's not fair! We've gotta find him, ya know?!" Grim tugged at Yulia's pants. She looked at him and back towards the windows. It wasn't fair...
"Grim, sometimes it's just easier to let that sort of stuff slide... Let's just do the 100 windows ourselves and be done..." Yulia rubbed at her arms, eventually scratching away at them.
Grim gave Yulia the most irritated look. "Oi, what happened to my amazing, epic, ghost exterminator henchman?"
Yulia paused and blinked dumbfounded at Grim. "What-?"
"You were so confident even though those ghosts were so scary, ya know? Why are you being so lame now, eh? You're gonna let that Ace walk all over ya?"
Was Grim trying to give her a compliment for once? She continued to stare down at the little cat, baffled. "Oi, The Great Grim is praising you! So, c'mon henchman! We're gonna find that Ace and make him clean his share of windows!"
Yulia felt anger rise in her. It really wasn't right. He shouldn't just get out of it, and more importantly she shouldn't have to take that. With a deep inhale, she threw her rag across the table and walked out the door. "You've convinced me. Let's find him, Grim. He has windows to scrub."
A/N: I'm sorry for not updating. I also apologize for such a short chapter. I will try to continue writing this, but it may be few and far between and shorter or longer chapters. It just depends.
