Ever since they were a child, Nene was always rather reserved and preferred to keep to themsves. Their only friend growing up was their neighbour, Rui Kamishiro. Many people considered him strange, but Nene considered him fun to hang around.

It came as quite the surprise to Nene when they received the news that Rui would no longer be attending school at Kamiyama high, as he now had to live his life in some kingdom awfully far away. Nene didn't know exactly what it meant, but what they did know for certain was that they weren't going to enjoy spending the rest of high school alone.

Sometime later in the passing weeks, Nene had the random idea to apply as one of the knights at the kingdom Rui lived at for the sole purpose of seeing him again. They tried to convince themselves not to, because it would probably be more work than they were willing to do, but one thing led to another and now Nene found themselves staring up in awe at the large castle they were getting closer to.

They stepped out of the carriage that drove them there and slowly walked up to the large gate. They noticed a man with orange hair standing on the side of the gate but didn't really pay attention to him. The man noticed Nene walking closer to the gates and called out to them.

"Hey, you!" Nene jumped a bit at the sudden yelling, and turned to look at him. They pointed at themselves and gave him a confused look "Yeah! you. You're Nene Kusanagi right?" He said, walking over to Nene "Yes, that would be me.." they spoke, maybe a bit too quiet, but the manheard them regardless. "Alright, my name is Akito Shinonome. From what I've heard you start working today, follow me inside, so you'll be meeting the Kamishiro family." He said, opening the gate and entering the castle with Nene following behind him. Nene couldn't help but feel a bit nervous, never did they think they would have to speak to someone of such high authority, hopefully they didn't mess up or say something embarassing. Akito explained some things to Nene and sent them to get changed into the uniform assigned for them.

Nene put on the uniform, it wasn't that bad. It was really pretty, actually. After they were finished changing, they walked out of the room holding the clothes they had on earlier. They closed the door behind them and looked over to Akito, who was talking to someone else with light pink hair, wearing the same uniform they were. Akito heard Nene close the door and looked over to them, noticing them holding their clothes.

"Oh, you're done. Mizuki, can you take Nene's clothes to their room? I'll show them where it is later." Akito asked the other person. "Of course!" Mizuki replied happily, walking over to Nene to take the clothes from their hands. "Alright, now that that's done, let's go meet the Kamishiros." Akito said to Nene, who only got more nervous after hearing that. As the two walked down the hall Nene stared at the ground, listening to the clicking sound of their shoes against the cold floor. They were growing more nervous by the second.
Soon enough Akito stopped walking when they reached a large door. He held is arm out to stop Nene, who ran into his arm before they stopped as well. "You should really pay attention where you're going. We're here, get ready to meet them." Akito spoke, putting his arm down and opening the door.

Akito stepped further into the room, Nene followed. "Greetings, your majesty." Akito bowed. Nene already forgot just about everything they were meant to do, they just bowed and said a quiet "Hello, your majesty." hoping it would be enough. "Ah, hello Shinonome. I see our new knight has started today. It's a pleasure to meet you!" The queen spoke, holding out a hand to shake Nenes. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well, your majesty." Nene replied, shaking her hand awkwardly. "Oh, no need to be so shy! Mr Shinonome, why don't you go show Kusanagi around the castle?" The queen asked, turning to Akito. "Of course, follow me Kusanagi." Nene simply nodded and followed Akito out of the room. "Well, seems you made a good first impression." Akito stated, then he spoke again, "-Now you'll be meeting prince Kamishiro and his sister, princess Momoi." Nene was supposedly going to be helping one of the two as their *personal* knight and assistant. They weren't informed who just yet, but they were hoping it was Rui.

As Nene followed Akito up the stairs, they could only imagine how long and tiring of a day it was going to be.
