Chapter 4

The day goes by relatively drama free, Karla and I buy everything and anything they need. I buy a few things for myself, including a short red dress that we both thought looked amazing on me, I don't know where ill wear it but it's beautiful.

We stop at the toy store and buy half of the boys toys the store has, it'll be like Christmas for Ryan with all the new stuff he's getting. Mark and Ethan get new laptops, phone chargers and any other electronics lost in the fire. It's a good thing our families are well off, or the shopping we did today would've put them into bankruptcy.

Karla insists on buying me something as thanks, but I race her to the cash every timei see something I like, I keep telling her it's no big deal but she doesn't listen, so I agree to let her take us all out to supper, rather than one of us cooking food already at the house.

Begrudgingly, I agree and we drive back to the house to change into more appropriate clothes, we decide to go to a fancy restaurant, I think she suggests it just so I can wear the new dress I bought; but I stop protesting. She'll do what she wants anyway.

We called ahead to tell the boys to dress up, and when we arrive, mark is half dressed, chasing around a Pantless Ryan who's screaming about not wanting to dress up.

It's really funny to see, Marks chasing him around with a pair of pants, ones that don't even match the shirt he's wearing. They were supposed to go get pictures today, so Karla had different suits packed, Mark is wearing one of my fathers old suits.

Ethan is no where to be found though. He's probably still in the room he's been in since this morning.

Mark and I had been texting while we were shopping, him and Ryan had been swimming, but Ethan only came out once, to get something out of the fridge and retreated back in.

I don't think there's going to be a nice friendship grow between us while he stays here, not that one is really wanted.

While Karla sorts out the boys I quickly fix my hair and makeup, then pull on the dress. My neck looks too bare so I pull on a long necklace, it only takes about five minutes. Mark walks on in my room, apparently I forgot to lock the door, despite earlier saying I would from now on.

He sizes me up and tells me I look nice, then asks me to fix his tie. Saying he's "too badass to know how to tie a tie" I laugh and fix it for him as Karla walks by the door with Ryan in tow, she makes a little aw noise and Ryan pretends to barf, oh five year olds.

Ryan finally appears to be dressed, actually wearing a matching outfit, and Karla is all dolled up, she wears a silver dress with her hair pulled back into a twist on the side of her head. She looks amazing.

She's a damn near perfect mother, more than once I've wished she was mine.

I guess with them living here it'll be close enough to her being my mother. I smile at the thought.

"You look beautiful," she gushes, and Mark makes a little pft noise. We all laugh and she then compliments him too, saying that he looks nice in a suit.

He rolls his eyes. "Only dorks wear suits!"

"I'm wearing a suit, mommy, what's a dork?" Ryan asks.

"Your brothers very silly, dorks wear weird clothes, you know who wears suits? 007. He's pretty cool, right?" I save Karla from the trouble of answering, although she probably could without trouble. Ryan smiles and says that he likes wearing a suit, and Karla smiles brightly at me, I have the feeling this will save some arguments in the future.
