BETHANY BUELLER HATED CLARISEE LA RUE...
she hated the way her muscles tightened and relaxed as she practiced with her spear, she hated the way clarisse loved to back her into a corner every game of capture the flag, she hated the way clarisse towered over her no matter what, and she especially hated the way she could never stop thinking about the daughter of ares that frustrated her to no end.
BETHANY never thought she would hate someone as much as she hated clarisse, but then came along percy jackson. at only 12 years of age, percy had gone up against a minotaur and won. bethany had never even gone on a quest. the scariest thing she ever fought was her bed head. from the moment he arrived, percy was handed everything on a silver platter all because he was the son of goddamn poseidon while bethany was just reduced to another aphrodite kid stereotype of looking pretty and being dumb.
CLARRISE LA RUE couldn't remember the last time she saw bethany bueller mad at someone who wasn't her, but there she was glaring at percy jackson from across the campfire. she looked like an angry strawberry, all dressed in pink in contrast with her glaring blue eyes. clarisse had to admit, she didn't hate seeing bethany like this. if she looked close enough she could see the muscles in bethanys jaw tightening before she unclenched her jaw just to do it all over again.
NOW BETHANY is finally being sent on her very first quest, she was so ready to gloat about it to clarisse. only problem? she had to go with percy jackson. all she could think about the entire quest — even the times she almost died — was going back to camp to clarisse.
