I walked into the disheveled 'family' restaurant and was met with a pleasantly familiar face. Dave tried to sneak up on me, but he isn't exactly quiet. I pretended to be startled to entertain his ego. He began to tell me how he convinced 'phone face' to give us a half-day since we weren't going to be too busy. I was impressed how he managed to do that, but I didn't question it further.

We got to the point where customers stopped coming in, and got permitted to leave. I start to pack the small bag I bring with me to work and head for the front door. I abruptly stop when I heard faint footsteps growing closer. I turned to see Dave speed walking to catch up with me. I hadn't realized how fast I was walking until I turned. Dave slowed to a stop, then leans on a nearby wall to catch his breath. "So, uh -huff- what do you plan on doing later?" He asked, breathing heavily. "Oh, nothing I guess, why?"
I responded, giving him a minute to finish catching his breath. He seemed nervous and replied with a quick "Just curious" he begin to scan the mostly empty parking lot, seeming to be looking for something "did you walk here?" He asked "Yes I did, I usually do" I replied looking over at Dave's rusty, yet charming truck. "Do ya want a ride home?" He asked, making quick eye contact then fixing his gaze to a spot just past my head. "Sure, that would be nice." I replied as we both headed for his truck.

He hopped into the drivers seat, and I climbed into the passengers seat. To my surprise the seats were pretty comfortable for how damaged they were. I looked ahead at the dashboard, noticing a few dried blood spots. Other than that, nothing I didn't expect to see. He started the engine and it made a loud sputtering noise before it actually began to run. We pulled up to the edge of the parking lot just before the road began. He pulled out of the parking lot and drove to my house, he has given me a ride before. I don't usually bother to ask for a ride cause I don't wanna seem needy, plus the walk isn't too bad, it's like exercise. He pulled into my driveway and he turned the truck off "Mind if I stay here for a bit?" Dave asked, breaking the previous awkward silence "I don't mind" I replied before hopping out of the truck and grabbing my house key out of my pocket. I fiddled with the lock before it finally clicked and the door opened, we walked in and I closed the door behind us. He both sat down on the couch and I grabbed the tv remote, joining him on the couch. I replayed the movie I was watching before I left.

~Time skip cause uhhh~

After the end credits played, I got up off the couch and turned back to face the taller man, who was promptly asleep. I grabbed a spare blanket and placed it on top of him, then I headed to my own room. I closed my bedroom door behind me and sat down on my bed. Since I don't really get tired I just laid down staring at the ceiling, trying to distract myself until morning. But tonight I was getting restless, constantly thinking back to Dave and how he is sleeping in the other room. When I was hanging out with him I felt happier, less empty. It could just be nothing, but I enjoy his company. I started to think about something and got lost in thought waiting for morning.
