oO That time (y/n) and Childe went on a roadtrip Oo

(Hi hi!! long time no update, im so sorry about that lmao. Anyway, this is set before the whole war thingy happened in tevyat.  It doesn't really fit in with the timeline i had in welcome to my world, but this was what i was originally planning before i decided on doing the forest resort arc instead. I'm sure you can tell that I, am in fact, absolutely in love with history after seeing the Roman Baths. I'm so sorry for using this to geek out, but at least you'll learn something probably lmao. Also don't question why (y/n) and Childe aren't taking anyone else with them lmao. enjoy!!)

"(n/n), you ready to go yet?" Childe called out from the bottom of the stairs as I quickly threw on a jacket. I was in my room, doing the last of my packing. Childe had been very curious about other places in the UK, and I was more than happy to show him around. In fact, one evening, he and I had sat down and planned out a whole roadtrip of places I could show him that weren't too far from home. We had things on the list like Stonehenge, the Roman Baths, and Hampton Court Palace. 

Each was manageable as a day trip, except for the Roman Baths. Seeing the actual Baths would be about two or three hours of activity, but in addition to that, there was also a gorgeous cathedral right next door to see, and the entire town of Bath was beautiful. It was surrounded by lush greenery and rolling hills and knowing Childe, he'd love to drive out and explore them. For this reason, I'd planned the Roman Baths to be an overnight stay, but also because the drive out was about two hours and it'd be murder to drive back through the rural countryside at night.

"Yeah, just gimmie a sec to close my suitcase!" I closed and zipped up the mini suitcase. Considering it was an overnight stay, I didn't need to bring much more than a spare change of clothes and night clothes.  I lugged the suitcase down the stairs and ran outside, where Childe was already in the driver's seat of the car. I put the suitcase in the back, and made my way to the passengers seat.

"Are you sure you wanna drive?" I asked. "It's about two hours, and that's provided we don't hit traffic on the way out of the city."

"I can handle it." Childe grinned back, not bothered in the slightest. 

"Whatever you say, honey." I shrugged. "Off we go, then!"

Most of the drive went by in both of us singing along to the playlist I had specially made for this trip, and just talking about anything and everything. Occasionally, we'd excitedly point out flocks of cows and sheep to each other. I think the most memorable part was when we'd stopped for fresh air, and Childe completely ignored me when I told him not to touch the flora surrounding us. 

Of course, Childe being Childe ignored me, and ended up being stung by stinging nettle. That hell plant grew quite commonly in the UK, even though it was considered a public menace. The way he'd yelled in surprise and let loose a string of very creative curses would probably haunt me for years after.

Anyway, after that, Childe and I switched places and I took up driving instead. He was slumped in the passenger seat, grumpily rubbing the back of his hand, where his bare skin had made contact with the leaves.

"Why is that stupid plant even allowed to grow so commonly here?" He sulked. I got the sense his pride was a little wounded after being bested by a plant.

"Well, most people don't go touching plants they don't recognise." I chuckled. "And if you live here, you can identify it pretty easily. If it really hurts, we can pull over and you can pour water over it. That usually makes it hurt less."
