Not a cloud in the sky. A gentle breeze, not shy, carrying with it the lukewarm scents of flowers. The songs of birds, the humming of ever so tiny wings. The suns glittery impact on the waters surface. Erik was fully aware of it all as he drifted further away from reality and the horrors within. It felt surreal, laying there, as he was, in the bobbing of the leaking boat. He felt the ripples it created, heard the splashes of fish trying to grab some of the many flies that fill the air above the eerie lake. With his back against the wet wood, the wails of the demented grew distant.
If so only in his mind, it was a welcomed relief.
