Part 1

Chapter 1

Yes, it was my first time going to a club. And yes, I was nervous.

"You look amazing Sam," my friend, Alexis tells me.

"Are you sure?" I question, pulling at my sleeves. I feel so constricted in this dress. I was never one to love the way my body looked.

"Positive," she tells me, spraying my hair with massive amounts of hairspray.

"Remind me why we are doing this again?" I whimper as I inhale the toxic chemicals.

"Because it's been a year and a half," Roxanne tells me. "Now look at yourself!" She turns me around to the full length mirror. She looks stunning with her long dark red hair in curls, sparkling green eyes and petite body. She is sporting a tight, sea foam green dress. And Alexis, she has her dirty blonde hair in waves down her back with beautiful brown eyes. I wish I had her eyes. Her tall body is in a loose navy dress. Her long legs look amazing.

And then there is me. My dark brown hair is teased to death and my blue eyes are forced to pop out with the extensive amounts of makeup on my eye lids. My curvy body is wearing a black dress that hugs my upper body with sleeves ending at my elbows and the dress goes out at my waist, ending at my knees. It is very poofy I might say. But I do like the dress. I am not a skinny girl, and it is hard to find dresses that look elegant and pretty on me.

This club is located in the heart of New York City. It is one of those clubs where it is required that you look refined. Yes you are crowded and fighting for drinks but they do not let you in unless you are wearing a tuxedo or a dress. Don't ask me, I guess it is the clubs way of "staying elegant" as Roxanne had said earlier.

"Are we ready?" Alexis asks, we all nod and grab our purses.

Chapter 2

"Rose's club on main please," Alexis tells the taxi driver, he nods in silence and starts driving. You would think, living in New York for 3 years, I would get used to the whole New York scene, but truthfully, it still scares me to death. Roxanne convinced me to go to the club with them for the first time in my life. Alexis and her go out all the time together, while I stay huddled in my apartment, writing and reading for a living. It's just what I do. But the both of them have been worried about me since the Incident. Which is understandable.

"Sam?" Roxanne looks at me, interrupting my thoughts.

"Yeah?" I reply pulling at a loose thread on my dress.

"We need to stick together okay? No matter what. I choose an easy club for us to go to for your first time. But guys are assholes and girls will eat you alive." She tells me. I know this club is exclusive, not a lot of people are welcome. Roxanne is huge in the music industry and so her and Alexis get into the most elite clubs.

"Okay," I reply.

"That will be twenty dollars ladies," the driver looks at us.

"Thank you," I smile at him and hand him the money. We exit the cab and my ears are filled with the booming music coming from inside the hotel-like building.

"This is it," Roxanne tells us. I start to feel a little nervous. Little? Who am I kidding. Frogs are hoping in my stomach and I can't feel my toes in these platform heels. I'm scared shitless.

"Ready?" Alexis looks at me and I nod. We enter the club without even having to look at the line that stretches around the block. But we get no complains because everyone recognize Roxanne.

"You are twenty one Samantha. You can do this," I mumble to myself as I show the bouncer my I.D.

"And here we are!" Alexis squeals as the music bounces from wall to wall. Guys in full suits look dapper and almost every girl in the room is half my size and wearing practically nothing. It is surprisingly cool in here. Not as hot and sweaty as I imagined.
