"Finn, did you see the new girl? Wearing the white red-spotted dress? Red hair?" His little sister, Gwen asks. "Yeah, kinda hard to miss" He replies. "Shes 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 pretty. I mean like, emphasize on the pretty!" Gwen cheerfully adds. Finney hums in response. "Do you agree?" Finney hesitates. If he says yes, she'll run around like a mad man telling the whole school. If he says no, she'll disown him for not agreeing. "Yeah, shes uh pretty just, not my type" He purses his lips. "Finney has a crush, Finney has a crush" Gwen says with a sing-song voice. "Your putting words in my mouth again Gwen" She smiles. Gwen begins to turn the street.

"Where are you going?" Finney stops in his tracks. "Its friday?" Realization hits the boy hard in the face. "Right" "Hey, Watch dad okay? And dont eat all the icecream!" The braided girl yells, walking off. Finney laughs to himself.

On his walk home, He runs into some unexpected company. The jackasses always picking on him. He trys his hardest not to mantain eye contact, seeing as to they already have spotted him. "Hey Fag! Where you think you're going?" One of them yells. Finney begins picking up his pace, walking faster with each step. "Hey!" The other yells. Now, Finney's in a full-on sprint, not wanted to get his ass beat today.

A hand grasps onto the boys shoulder, pulling him down to the ground. "This is what you get for earlier, fag" The brunette boy spits out, landing a hard punch on the side of Finney's cheek. The other two begin kicking him. As Finney's yelling in pain, he hears another voice. "Hey! Cock- Suckers!" A girl yells, jogging to the pile of boys. "Get off him!" She demands. "Whats this?" The brunette pants. "You think were gonna listen to a girl?" The red headed boy asks. "I know you will" She picks up a rock, bashing it into the side of one of the boy's face, knocking him to the ground. But her luck is out. The red-head grabs her and flips her over his shoulder, leaving a hard slap to her face.

Finney cant tell whats happening but he knows his beating isnt over yet. The third boy begins harshly curve stomping his face to the ground. The girl takes this as a sign she has more time. She slowly reaches down to her white long sock and pulls a silver switch blade out. She stands up limping towards the two ugly looking boys. "Leave in alone now" She says, spitting bloody spit to the ground. "Do you want a repeat of what just happened, girl?" The second boy says. Her switch-blade clicks in her hand. Both boy's eyes dart towards the blade. They side eye eachother, putting their hands up in surrender. They slowly walk off, leaving their third friend behind, who looks really drowsy from the knock-out. Blood painting half his face.

Finney is still on the ground, groaning in pain. "Hey are you okay?" The girl asks him. "Yeah, uh im good" Finney squints his eyes, grabbing his elbow. The girl bends down, supporting his head to lift him up. "Yeah thats uh- those are gonna be some pretty badass scars" She tells him, playfully smiling. Finney returns her smile. The girl spits some blood out of her mouth.

"Im Beverly" She tells him, now thats hes fully up. "I know" He confirms. "Oh" She laughs. "No, not- I mean everyones talking about you" He reassures. "Well uh" She smiles. "Finney" He nods. "Nice to meet you, Finney" Beverly says, spitting more blood. Beverly turns her head and notices the first boy isnt where he was sitting. "So, who were those guys?" The slightly taller girl asks him. "Some jack-asses" He laughs. Beverly nods. "Do you need to be walked home? Y'know, for protection" She winks jokingly. Finney laughs. "Actually doesnt sound so bad" He draws a deep breath in, wincing as his lungs crumble from the punches. "Its this way" He points, picking up his back pack. They both begin walking in the direction of his home. "Whyd you help me?" He makes small-talk. "When you see a damsel in distress, what do you do?" Finney cant hide the fact that he needs to giggle at her comment. "Damsel? Really?" He says. "In distress" She adds

On the rest of the walk to Finney's house, they bond. They tell eachother things they've never told anyone else. They may even be eachothers best friends for all they know.

"Ive never told anyone that much in a 15 minute walk" Finney states. "Me neither" Bev smiles. "So this is me" Finney say's, pointing towards his one story home. "Do you want water? To wash out the blood?" He questions. "No, im good" The red-head smiles. "Ill see you monday?" Finney asks with big doe eyes. "Monday" She nods, walking off.

When Beverly arrives home, Her fathers already gotten into the liqour cabnit. "Your late" Her dad, Al, grunts. "Im sorry, daddy. I got lost" Beverly innocently says. "You dont happen to be running around with boys now do you?" Al asks, not turning his head back to look at her. "No daddy" "Good" He clicks.

Beverly walks to the one bathroom in her small home, cleaning the blood off the side of her face, not wanting her father to notice.

"Hey Finn" Mr. Shaw says, sitting at the dinner table. "Jesus what happened?" He asks, concern washing over his face. "Just got into a tussle, im fine" "Who was it?" Mr. Marsh asks. "Nobody" Finney says, pushing through the hallway to the bathroom. "But i met somebody" He yells from the bathroom. "A girl. Really tough. She helped me" He smiles to himself. "Thats great Finn" The boys father yells from the other room.
