SHE stepped out in a peach colored bathrobe while rubbing her wet hairs with a towel and sprinkled off the excess water. She huffed and dried her hairs and jumped into her dress that she has selected. A white sleeveless crop top and a white high raise jean with lemon yellow colored full hand shrug was her dress and brushed her free hairs with her fingers before applying a nude lipstick. She checked herself again and stepped out of her room and grabbed an apple from the fruit basket over the fridge and pushed it into her college bag that she has hung across her chest. She grabbed the charts before stepping into a pair of shoes that matched her dress.

"Oh no...!!" She tapped her head and rushed to open the other room only to see her best friend still sleeping.

"Ohhooo Miss Lady kumbkaran...!! Please wake up...It's already late..." She said shaking her friend but she snuggled more into the blanket with a frown.

"Wake up...Attendance miss ho jayegi..." She tried again but in vain.

"What's with you yaar Nandini...!? You go...I'll join later..." Her friend said in between a strong yawn.

Nandini rolled her eyes and said while leaving "At least join after the first hour..."

"Okay...I'll try...Bye..." She mumbled in sleep.

"Bye Alya..." Nandini said and closed the door behind her while stepping out of their small 2 BHK flat.

Nandini Murthy, soon to be 22, in final year of her fashion designing course. The strong independent girl that we may come across at least once in our lifetime. She has never given the right to decide for her to anyone. Right from choosing colors for the drawings that she has done in her childhood and understanding her interest in fashion designing to doing a research on what to study and choosing the best college for pursuing fashion designing, she has designed her life as well. Single child to her parents and a lot pampered by her father, of course, he feels she is his mother's re-birth. Upper middle class family but rich in love. As her parents lived in Pune and her college is in Mumbai and being the person who loves her individuality a bit too much, she has decided to stay on her own and her best friend from school, Alya, joined her as Nandini's mother insisted, not wanting to let her live alone.

She stepped out of her flat and closed her eyes to remember her father's words that works as her confidence booster: 'Chin Up Princess...Else The Crown Will Fall Down...And Rule The World Like You Own It...'

She smiled as she opened her eyes and walked till the elevator and just then her phone rang displaying her father's ID.

"Appa...Good morning..." She chirped while waiting for the elevator.

Venkatesh Murthy, a normal bank employee, Nandini's father, who grew up along with Nandini as he wanted to match her mind-set and not create any problems if he lacks to match her generation. He is a happy go person, with all smiles in the day that hearing his laughter, the trouble too might get to the exit without knocking at his door.

He is that father who just want Nandini to fly high, not by being her wings but by being the wind beneath her wings. Right from the dress she wanted to wear to going to other city for her studies, he has let her take her own decisions and never interfered. He always knew that she does her part of research and background check and so does he, just for his own satisfaction and always felt proud of her choices. He trusts that she will never let him down.

"Good morning Princess...Are you leaving to college...!?" He asked while watering the plants.

He may not be a king but she is nothing less than a princess for him.

Nandini never believed in 'Behind every man's success, there's a woman' but always trusted 'Behind every successful girl, there's an old man who happens to be her father that trusted his daughter more than anyone'

"Yes Yes...Appa wait a minute..." She said getting into the elevator and once she came out of it, she continued "Haan Appa...On my way..."

"Okay beta...Take care..." He said and before he could cut the call, her mother yelled from behind "I want to talk..."

"Nandu beta...All okay...!?" She asked and Nandini replied with a smile "Yeah Maa...All good..."

"Did you eat...!?" Her mother asked.

Even the father who loves his daughter to his heart will always miss to ask this question but her mother never misses. A mother will always be a mother. Period.

Shalini Murthy, an Indian housewife, Nandini's mother, who still believes to step back when a black cat crosses by. As her husband let Nandini fly, she tries to control her from flying far away from them, but, at last, understands and backs out. Misunderstanding her daughter's confidence and self-respect as attitude, she is always worried about her future, the household that she has to step in. She always prays for a person that can tame Nandini's attitude.

But, alas, she doesn't know that attitude can be tamed but self-confidence needs to be appreciated. She is yet to realize that Nandini should get a person who can appreciate her confidence and stand at her back to clap for her success.

Nandini crossed her fingers before lying "Yes Maa...Umm...Maa...I'll call in the evening after college...Bye..."

She cut the call and adjusted the charts in her hand and her bag before coming out of the apartment.

Nandini walked on the road to reach the bus stop which is 10 minutes away from her flat and looked at her right and then left to cross the road but wondered seeing the red signal thinking 'Wow...This signal works...I'm seeing it for the first time...Anyways...Shouldn't wait more time for bus...Will take an auto after seeing for 5 minutes'

Little did she know that she not only crossed the road but also crossed someone's heart that day.
