"Gentleman we the last of mankind have great news! Today we have been the first of humanities last safe havens to finally acquire a cure to the plague that has wiped us off the face of this planet and with it we will begin the final stretch into bringing this world back into its former glory!" The lead scientist shouted to the mass of doctors and fellow colleagues as he stood proud above them all for the year is 2025 and almost all of humanity is but wiped from existence. An unknown plague slowly and surely snuffed out most of the human race leaving only animals and the odd bunkers left filled with only the rich and powerful and the great minded. After months of research and countless failures and losses the cure had finally been perfected and placed into a Genetic Code of DNA which when mixed created a single strand of DNA capable of cloning humans who will be immune to the virus and can then repopulate the world. That night Project Reanimation was started and it didn't take long for the flaws to be found and fixed and that's where the entire staff and almost everyone in the bunker become intrigued and some even scared for the 1st set of clones to be made were far from human and looked more like demonic monsters! After almost a year of testing and failures on the date of January 2nd 2026 the first successful clones were made and kept in test tubes until they were deemed a success and in the end only 10 of them were and in most cases when the bunkers inhabitants were asked they said it was far from a success. "They look harmless enough sir" the lead doctor proclaimed as he stared into tube #49 "They are sure as hell not! "Exclaimed a bunker dweller who was a former millionaire "We know what the test results brought up no human is capable of what they can do!" The doctor switched his view from the tube to the man "you have no say in this experiment so why do you persist on stopping it?" The doctor began shuffling through papers on his desk "because these "things" are NOT human and they should be destroyed!" Just as the man said that the doctor looked up and yelled "these are me and my fellow workers creations not yours so when we decide to ask snobby rich bigots what's human and what's not we will give you a call!" The man stomped off into the hall and out of the doctors view and as the doctor sat down in his desk and re read the report that had everyone in arms he wondered if what he claimed he was defending was actually a smart idea. He read it aloud "The test results have shown that they are immune to the virus and have every feature of a human but one thing disturbs us. The ones that survived have something different about them for one the "A" batch of clones all suffer from short sightedness and also they seem to have some sort of inhuman ability or at least 3 of the 10 do we aren't sure about the rest but from what we can see it appears to be a mutation in their genetic code which allows them to do things no human thought possible outside of story books and comics. Subject A-23 after tedious research appears to have some traits of a fish for unknown reasons he has gills, webbed toes, webbed fingers and a small dorsal fin on his upper back but somehow he still has lungs and everything else a human needs in order to survive its quite puzzling. From what we can see though they appear stable and all seem more promising then anything else we've created so unless most of you disagree we are going to keep them. Sincerely Dr. Rathord." As he finished his gaze swept back to the test tubes which housed the ten clones from A batch and with a sigh he got up and left the room. After a month B batch had been made only 13 surviving. With many pointless arguments and useless meetings it was finally decided that they were to be kept and from this point on a new batch was to be modified and made each month which would then be kept in test tubes for the month duration being studied and tested on then what findings the staff made was recorded and kept on file. B batch had 6 with visible differences and all of them suffered from a case of dyslexia which was odd but not to troublesome for the workers to figure out. As the bunker became more accepting of these clones people became much more interested in them and their progress and after C batch was produced almost the entire bunker was volunteering to help in the production even some wanting to adopt the kids once they were out of the tubes. On April 2nd 2026 D batch was made and out of that batch 19 survived but one seemed off which worried the staff and volunteers alike D-13 a boy who at first looked normal through and through until he opened his eyes the staff were met with red glowing eyes which seemed to pierce their very souls after further tests no other changes seemed prevalent in D-13 which left doctors ultimately confused. C batch which suffered from Color blindness had it easy compared to D batch for D batch had problems with their lungs in which they can not breath anything but 100% pure oxygen so when their month was up 19 babies were given special gas masks to survive which recycled air into pure Oxygen. Nobody wanted to adopt these babies because of this problem so the staff had to do their best to raise them and that's where my story begins I am D-13 and I am one of 19 in D batch and this is where my story begins in the bunker where no soul enters and no soul leaves for the bunker is perfect and right.
