This is all background information on Y/n's life before Five showed up. Hope you enjoy it!
TW: Self-harm, and blood.
|Sleeping soundly with the locket that she gave you when you were kids|
It was October 1st, 1962. A big blue vortex appeared in an alleyway between Commerce and Knox in Dallas Texas. This would be the fourth vortex that appeared in that alley since 1960. Out fell Y/n grasping onto nothing. Five's hand used to be there, but now it was emptiness.
"FIVE! FIVE WHERE ARE YOU?!" Y/n called out. Nothing but an echo came back. She ran around town searching for the boy, she searched across the country for the boy, but he wasn't anywhere. After weeks of searching, she was back in Dallas. She went to the local store to buy men's razors. Outside of the same store, only minutes later. She was slicing her arms with razors. Cut after cut, maybe this would bring her closer to him. Day went by, the cuts getting worse and increasing heavily. She was scared of actually making the cut that would end it all. Today would be the day she tried. As scary as it was, Five was on the other side waiting for her. Right? She grabbed the last razor in the package and made a huge cut across her arm. From her fingertip to her shoulder. Minutes later she passed out. When she woke, she was in an all-white outfit, sitting in a hospital bed. Where the hell am I? A tall man walked in with a 60s haircut.
"Where the hell am I?" She questioned.
"The mental hospital, you tried killing yourself this morning," He said. Y/n looked at her arm to see bandages covering all the cuts.
"Why didn't you let me die?" She asked while she started sobbing.
"It's for your good," He said, taking notes.
"Let me be with him.." She cried.
"I'm afraid I can't let you do that," He said. "We found these items in your pockets," He said, pulling out the razors and two pictures of Five.
"Can I have the pictures..please?" She asked, tears continuing to fall down her face.
"Sure," He said, handing her the pictures. She kissed them softly.
"Thank you," She mumbled. They were all she had left of him. She fell asleep holding the pictures close to her chest. Why couldn't he be here with me? She wondered.
|Six months later|
Her six months were over. She wasn't trying to kill herself every night without him. Hell, she accepted him not being there. It was lonely, but she made do with it. She sat in the alley where she landed next to the dumpster. It was her home for a few days before a kind man approached her. In the future, this would be a massive red flag, but it was the 60s, people weren't that shitty anymore.
"Hi there," He said.
"Hello," Y/n muttered.
"I've noticed you out here for the last week, are you homeless?" He asked.
"Yeah..." She mumbled.
"Do you need a place to live?" He asked.
"Yes," She said.
"My name is Elliot and I live in the building right here. What's your name?" Elliot asked.
"Y/n, Y/n Hargreeves," She said.
"It's nice to meet you Y/n," He said, holding out his hand to shake hers. She shook his hand with the arm covered with scars. "Let's go shopping to get you some clothes," He said. I stood up and followed him. I trusted him. I did because I knew Five would trust him. They went shopping that day and it was amazing. Elliot treated her like a daughter, and Y/n treated him like her father. Later on, he ended up adopting her. Everyone thought she was 17, so she was legally adoptable. She lived with him for a year, and everything felt perfect. It wasn't perfect. Five wasn't by her side.
