Weeks later, winter finally began. This means Hogsmeade will be covered with snow. Lovely.
Most of my friends couldn't miss going to Hogsmeade, and I can't wait to buy (y/n) things. I wore my coat, scarf, gloves and everything to make myself feel warm. I plan on riding in the same carriage with her, but professor McGonagall has already assigned her with Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
"It can't be changed?" I ask, a bit sad.
The woman gave me a suspicious and inquisitive glance as she wondered why I was asking till she answered " yes ". She shook her head, and several of the Ravenclaw and Slytherin students passing by gave me adoring looks. "I'm sorry, Mr Diggory. As I've explained a million times before, it cannot be altered; despite the fact that you are a talented student in my class, I am unable to make an exception for you. Move along now,"
As soon as she said that, I hear (y/n)'s voice coming. Instantly, I turned around and see that she was talking with the third-year trio. She was walking a bit close to Harry and their shoulders rubbed each other as they walked down the stairs. I wondered what they were talking about that made the two of them grin at each other, but other than that, I noticed how adorable her winter clothes are; especially with that beanie of hers.
I wanted to head over to them, but my friends shouted my name already. They've been waiting and I said to myself that I'll just talk with her later at Hogsmeade. Throughout the ride, I couldn't recall anything that my friends and I talked about in the carriage. All I thought about was treating (y/n) with loads of things and sweets.
It took about a certain minute for us all to arrive, and when it stopped, I immediately got out and tried to find her from the excited crowd. Though it was hard to do so, I spotted her right in front of the quill shop with the trio. She seemed like she was searching for someone, and I must say, she looked funny doing it; she'd have to tiptoe sometimes, but when she saw me, I smiled at her.
I knew right then she was searching for me.
(Y/n) looked quite happy once she spotted me, but when she saw me walking toward her, she shook her head a million times; but when I stood right in front of her, she sighed and received odd looks from the third-years. I look at them and grinned, but Harry didn't exactly like my expression. Maybe he's still on about the quidditch match- but I couldn't share the same annoying feeling as he's friends with (y/n).
"May I steal (y/n) away from you guys? I promised her something," I say and Hermione looks at her teasingly.
"Oh, of course! She was just looking for you," Ron said. So it's true. Hermione smacked his shoulder but then looks at (y/n). "We'll be at the Three Broomsticks Inn if you're done," she says with a smile.
Harry didn't seem to want to say anything but just looked at her. (Y/n) smiled at the three and pat his head, "sorry, Harry- I'll buy you a butterbeer. See you guys later!"
With that, she and I took off. I held her wrist so that she'd be really following, but my mind can't stop pinpointing what Ron said. I led her to Honeydukes, and out of nowhere, I had the urge to bring it up. "You were looking for me?" I asked with a smile, and I could feel her glaring at me once I asked that.
She scoffed, and I sensed her rolling her eyes. "No. I just happen to spot you."
"Are you sure?"
"Shut up, will you?"
As we entered Honeydukes, I take a moment to look at her for her reaction, and it seemed like something caught her eye. "You said I can buy anything I want, right?"
"Yeah," I say and she grins, hurriedly grabbing sweets and things that I don't know what else because I'm waiting at the counter. I received odd looks from others, but at this point, I don't care what they think about the two of us. As long as she's enjoying this day.
In the end, I bought too many of the sweets she preferred, which we ate while exploring Hogsmeade and looking for items that either she or I needed. We handed some of her treats to some third-years, leaving us with nothing. Suddenly, I felt the urge to spend some time alone with her.
"Let's go somewhere else,"
She gives me a perplexed look but simply nods in agreement. I soon led her to an empty area of Hogsmeade. I wasn't sure why I suddenly felt so anxious; was it because I was worried she would think I was going to kidnap her or was it just because she was there?
I avoided all that feeling as I thought the snow was thick and perfect for me to form many snowballs.
"Cedric!" She yelped as I threw a snowball at her. I grinned and couldn't hold back my laugh seeing her angry, snow-splattered face.
When I bent down and was about to make another snowball, I hear her furious breathing and that was when I let my guard down; she ran towards me and pushed me down, making the two of us fall but my back was freezing from the impact of the snow. She laughs like a little devil and sat right on top of my stomach, taking a scoop of snow with those hands. I jokingly screamed out for help, but she soon showered my face with snow.
We both laughed at this. I wiped away the snow from my face and slowly opened my eyes, slightly reflecting the light that was shining brightly, but that wasn't what mattered.
Our laughter died down and I couldn't help but realized my heart skipped a beat when I saw her face. She looks...– beautiful. How many times have I told her that she's always been this beautiful? How is she always this beautiful anyway? I think I'm starting to question myself over things like this.
I smile at my own thoughts, having the urge to say something to her. I raised my hand and caress away the snowflake that was on the tip of her nose, "I'm glad you're laughing,"
"I'm glad you're surrendering!" she says in embarrassment, splashing snow onto my face again.
"(Y/n)," I say as I wiped the snow away again from my face. This time, I held her wrist, then her hand with both of mine, feeling the need to warm it. I look into her eyes and it tells me that she's confused but comfy. "I don't know why I feel like now's the best time to say this,"
Am I starting to feel the things that people feel when they're around the person they like? The way I put it sounds complicated.
"But I think I... really like you."
Her cheeks went crimson, and I swear it's the cutest thing everyone will see, but I understand why her reaction is like this. "I know we've only known each other for a few months, but it's like I can't stop myself from wanting to always be with you... I can't stop thinking of wanting to make you happy,"
"Ced–"
"I just want to tell you that. Whether it's platonic or not... I'm not sure yet," I sigh, "I don't want to misunderstand those two words."
"..." she couldn't say anything as I notice that her eyes started to get watery. That changed the atmosphere and I was worried that I didn't say my 'half-confession' correctly, but that was until she nervously sobbed out. "Do you think I deserve having this kind of attention?" a tear dropped as she asked that.
I let out a small chuckle as I slightly smile, moving my hands to touch her cheek and caress her tears away; seeing that she was trying to pull herself away from it but couldn't. "I...— I think I like you, too, but I don't want to get too emotional around you and you always make me feel like I can release my emotions, and I hate that..." her voice cracked throughout speaking with sobs escaping, "I'm scared of the feeling not deserving you, Ced; I'm scared that you'll stop being friends with me."
"I'll never stop being friends with you, (y/n)—" I gazed deeply into those sweet eyes of hers, "—I've never had the best moments like this with anyone... you're the best thing that's happened to me after I got into Hogwarts,"
"After you became a prefect, you mean?" She said with a small chuckle, wiping away her never-ending tears. "Aaaand after you became the captain?"
I let out a long hum at that, avoiding eye contact with her jokingly but then laugh, shaking my head at her statement. "That's different, okay? I'm being brutally honest with you here, can't you hear my heartbeat going crazy?"
We both laugh at this silly moment of ours. She really has done something to me, and at this point, I don't mind. As long as we're both still friends, I'll be willing to struggle and rise with her.
