Hello everyone, ze

Hello everyone, ze. This is the new Marisa news covering real life events involving Gensokyo and its inhabitants. Now, a lot of you might've known about the 20th anniversary of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. Yes, it's been 20 years since the first incident on Windows Touhou, the Scarlet Mist Incident, occurred and I have resolved it together with Reimu, ze. I don't really know how I'm still quite young although it's been 20 years. It feels like 11th August 2002 was just yesterday, time goes by really fast, right. It's been 20 years since I've fought Rumia, Cirno, Meiling, Patchy, Sakuya, Remi, and Flandre. Oh, I also forgot to tell you a little fun fact. EOSD is the first time spellcard rules are implemented in danmaku battles and the first user of the rules is Rumia. Is that so? Yes, it is, ze. Her first spellcard on Hard/Lunatic is "Moon Sign – Moonlight Ray" but if you play on Easy/Normal then it will be "Night Sign – Night Bird."

Well, if we go 4 days ahead then we will have celebrated the 25th anniversary for the first Touhou game ever, Highly Responsive to Prayers

Well, if we go 4 days ahead then we will have celebrated the 25th anniversary for the first Touhou game ever, Highly Responsive to Prayers. Its full version was released on 15th August 1997 during Comiket 52, while EOSD was released during Comiket 62. Wow, Reimu is even older, ze. HRtP was released on the PC-98 platform, a once popular computer thingy that a lot of Japanese people used. However, the PC-98 had fallen in popularity against the ever-increasingly popular Windows computer at that time. Still, HRtP and the subsequent 4 Touhou games were released on PC-98. Sadly, most of these Touhou games are no longer in circulation. Although all 5 Touhou PC-98 games are still sold somewhere, their price would be far above the ceiling and on the way to blast off to Milky Way.

Talking about Comiket, last 13th August 2022 marked the 100th Comiket event in Japan

Talking about Comiket, last 13th August 2022 marked the 100th Comiket event in Japan. It was held in Tokyo Big Sight, Tokyo, Japan. Unfortunately, I can't participate in the event, ze. Comiket, short for Comic Market, is a semiannual doujinshi convention in Tokyo, Japan. A grassroots market focused on the sale of doujin (self-published) works, Comiket is a not-for-profit fan convention administered by the volunteer-run Comic Market Preparatory Committee (ComiketPC). Inaugurated on 21 December 1975 with an estimated 700 attendees, Comiket has since grown to become the largest fan convention in the world, with an estimated turnstile attendance of 750,000 in 2019. Comiket is typically held at Tokyo Big Sight in August and December, with the two events distinguished as Summer Comic Market (夏コミ, Natsukomi) and Winter Comic Market (冬コミ, Fuyukomi), respectively. Totally not copied from some wiki site. Simply put, it is a doujin convention where people will sell their self-published works. Of course, the number of Touhou-related doujinshi booth are among the top 5!

Lastly, Comiket 100th also saw the release of the latest Touhou game featuring me, 100th Black Market – Bulletphilia of Black Market

Lastly, Comiket 100th also saw the release of the latest Touhou game featuring me, 100th Black Market – Bulletphilia of Black Market. Yes, finally I'm the main protagonist, ze. I'm the only playable character in this game. My objective is to investigate the black market circulating around Gensokyo and get as many cards as I can. Finally, I can beat Reimu as the most popular main protagonist in Touhou. Well, I guess that's all from my newspaper, ze. See you all in the next monthly Gensokyo News by Marisa Kirisame.

Thank you for reading my news. Any forms of criticism and suggestions are respected and will be considered for future entries.

1. "Is that so" is Rumia's translated speech in EOSD. Originally, it is "so nanoka?" in Japanese and it is a rather childish phrase.

2. "ze" is Marisa's iconic catchphrase. It is quite boyish.

3. "Milky Way" is Marisa's spell card in Imperishable Night, "Magic Sign – Milky Way"
