Pulling up to my new home in Gravity Falls Oregon I couldn't help but thinking about how much of a wasteland my life was going to turn into. I was raised in New York. Home to me was a fast paced, tough, take nobody's crap kinda city. This was slow, woods, trees, and weird people. I had to leave everything behind to move here. So now I'm uprooted with no boyfriend, friends, family other than my parents, or cell service... I think this is what my worst nightmare is.
"Sweetheart." My mothers piercing voice calls out.
"Yeah mom?"
"I need you to go down to the Mystery Shack that's just down the street... The mailman messed up our mail." I groaned loud enough for her to hear downstairs, "I'll give you money to buy something cool... and their might even be some cute boys there!"
She added the right thing to the end of that statement. She knew how hard it was for me to let go of Toby so it would be good if I met someone new. My hand was sweaty holding the mail as I walked down a trail that seemed endless. Who would ever put a tourist attraction this fair into the woods? Even though the place was so far off the beaten path the parking lot was packed. Great, I thought, more people who are going to get in my way today. As I walked it and looked around it seemed like today was some sort of celebration.
"GET YOUR TICKETS! GET YOUR TICKETS FOR THE PARTY OF THE SEASON RIGHT HERE!" Some old guy was yelling this from behind a big neon pink glittery sign. That must be the owner. I took a deep breath before I started to make my way over to the table to exchange mail and get out of there as fast as possible. That was when the inevitable happened... I tripped. I hit the floor and I could feel every eye in the room turning to me. I was about to cry when there was a loud thump followed by an even louder OW! on the floor next to me.
"Grunkle Stan I think one of your Ghosts In A Bottle escaped again. It pushed down this girl and I... might wanna keep your eyes on the merchandise... maybe, just a little." That's when someone picked me up off the floor and asked me if I was alright.
"I'm fine thanks." I say wiping my eyes.
"You sure? You don't really look alright." I look up to see him giving me a concerned look. He looked around my age, average height, brown hair, brown eyes.
"Yeah I'm fine uhh..."
"Dipper." He says smiling and thrusting out his hand for a handshake.
"Scarlet." I blush returning the gesture.
"I've um, I've never seen you around here before."
"Yeah, I just moved here from New York City. What's the deal with the neon sign that has enough glitter to blind the sun?" He laughs at my remark. Wow, he had a really amazing laugh.
"You can thank my sister for that one. She's having this like, crazy karaoke party tonight. The whole town's coming, and you should come too... if you want." He says giving me a nervous smile. Oh gosh, was my heart beating faster? Did I actually have a crush on this guy I just met?
"Who's this bro-bro? a girl asks appearing in the doorway behind Dipper.
"Mabel, this is Scarlet. Scarlet, this is my sister Mabel." She waved at me and then whispered something to her brother that I couldn't make out.
"Yeah, she's going."
"Awesome!" She screams, "Oh! You should come get ready with me and my friends Grenda and Candy!" She says jumping in circles.
"Sure, I would love to Mabel." She grabbed my arm and started to pull me through the door she came. "I guess that means I'll see you later Dipper."
"Wouldn't miss it for the world Scarlet." That's when Mabel slammed the door shut. Separating me from the guy I now have a crush on. She was staring at me with huge eyes and a smile spread from ear to ear on her face.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked genuinely confused.
"You like my brother." She practically whispers.
"What?! No I- I don't- I would never like- ha ha... okay I like your brother." I sigh admitting defeat.
"I KNEW IT!" She screams tackling me to the floor. "We have to make you look absolutely flawless... You two would be perfect together."
"Okay, if you think I'd be good with your bro-"
"PERFECT! Come on, we need to get you ready for tonight!" She says dragging me by the arm upstairs.
"Mabel, who is that?" I jumped at the loud gruff voice I was met with when I came into the room.
"Candy, Grenda, this is Scarlet A.K.A. Dippers new girlfriend." That statement was followed by a lot of oooo's and squealing and me trying to process what exactly was going on.
"Do you think Dipper will like her back?" Candy asks.
"Oh he definitely does. He got like all nervous and smiley and... sweaty, around her so that's definitely a good sign. I could see them together couldn't you?" They were all squealing again. Mabel did my hair and make up but she said my outfit was fine, just jean shorts and a black tank top. It seemed like hours before they were finally done with everything and to be honest I was just counting down the seconds until I got to see Dipper again.
"Mabel how are you so good at this!" Grenda says.
"I'm a match maker girls... It's just what I do. Lets take her down to see Dipper the party's already started!" I was rushed out the door and down the stairs with Candy, Grenda, and Mabel telling me how great I looked. How they all knew Dipper would just love how I looked and how I had nothing to worry about. Mabel ran out the door to ind Dipper.
"Hey there bro-bro!" I could hear her smiling as she talked.
"Hey Mabel have you seen Scarlet anywhere?" He asks quietly.
"Yeah she's right here." Mabel throws open the door to reveal a very shy looking me to Dipper. All I could see was his eyes growing wide as he looked at me.
