"Emma!" Mary Margaret called. "Hey! So later tonight, my boss is having a dinner to celebrate my Vice Presidency, and she asked me to bring you along!"
Emma's face flushed. "What? Why? What?"
Mary Margaret giggled at her. Emma has a tell when she gets nervous. Her face turns bright red and she asks multiple questions in a hurried fluster.
"Emma, calm down. I've told her so much about you. She thinks it would be nice if the person who has always supported me, attended the dinner that is celebrating my biggest achievement yet! C'mon please come with me."
"Um, um.. Well... I don't see why not." Emma replied slowly.
"Yay!" Mary Margaret squealed with delight.
"I'm gonna go take a walk before I get ready. I'll meet you at home."
"Oh, alright." Mary Margaret called after her in a confused voice. It's best to just let her have some space, Mary Margaret thought to herself.

Emma walked outside of the doors of Mills enterprises. She breathed in the fresh air. Emma had always loved the outdoors. There was something beautiful about the way nature minded its own business, completely unaware of the minute problems of those surrounding it. She looked up at the sky and admired the big bright sun staring back at her, blinding her momentarily. She took another quick glance around and began her walk to the Subway. Once on the Subway, her mind began to wander. Something kept pressing at the back of her mind. She kept replaying that scene at the banquet, trying to connect the dots. Over and over again, those deep brown eyes bore into her. Where had she seen them before? Had she seen them before? Why was she so attracted to this mystery lady? She fell into a mid day haze. She had a secret. If anyone ever found out, especially Mary Margaret, what would they think of me? The Subway jarred to a stop and the announcer mumbled some incomprehensible message to the passengers. Emma got up and made her way to the exit, and walked up the crowded steps to the bustling streets of the city. She made her way to Central Park and sat down in front of the playground. She loved to people watch. People fascinated her. Their little quirks, the stories they each had to tell. Each person she passed on the street each having their own lives, their own problems, their own joys and wounds. It was captivating, really. She sat on the bench and watched the passerbys laughing and talking and hugging and wondered why she couldn't be like them. She always felt something was missing. Suddenly she was awoken from her day dream like state. A little voice was calling out her name.
"Miss. Emma! Miss. Emma!" She felt a small hand tugging at her dress. "Hellooooo! Is anybody there?"
Emma would recognize that voice anywhere.
"Henry?!" She exclaimed. "Henry! What are you doing?"
"Trying to get you to come play with me! Come on!" He grabbed her hand and tugged. Emma didn't budge. She giggled as Henry pulled her with all his strength.
"Henry, wait. What are you doing here? Who are you with?"
"I'm here with my mommy! And I'm trying to get you to come play with me! I just told you that! Let's go."
Emma allowed herself to be pulled along this time. She looked around quickly, trying to find Henry's mother, but she realized that she had never actually met her before. Suddenly, a familiar glimpse of red caught her eye. She turned toward the burst of red and found the same molten brown eyes staring her down once again. Of course! Why hadn't I connected the dots sooner?
